The Helpdesk Coordinator will be responsible for providing workstation management and software support to local and remote end-users, as well as coordinating related vendor services as needed.

This is a part-time regular position and is classified as non-exempt. This position is based out of our Chicago office and reports directly to the IT Director.


  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.

  • At least one year experience working in a help desk environment or equivalent technical experience.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills.

  • Ability to work and solve problems in an online environment.

  • Excellent documentation and quality assurance skills.

  • Able to work in team environment with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to train and educate end-users.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Experience with disk image preparation preferred.

  • Experience with non-profit organizations preferred.

  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft) preferred.

Responsibilities (included, but not limited to)

  • Providing helpdesk support for Windows, MS Office, and other common business applications.

  • Providing support for VoIP phone system.

  • Creating and maintaining an inventory of hard drive images.

  • Imaging, preparing, and deploying computer equipment.

  • Archiving and decommissioning computer equipment.

  • Maintaining inventory of equipment, software, and licenses.

  • Coordinating repair or replacement of computer equipment, liaising with vendors as needed.

  • Preparing technical documentation/how-to guides as directed.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

The Helpdesk Technician must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. They must also be customer-oriented and patient to deal with teammates of all technical skill levels. Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities: * Interviewing users to gather information about the problem and, if possible, leading the user through diagnostic procedures to determine the problem. * Log all support calls into the Help Desk Database to ensure all calls are tracked, responded to, and closed in a timely manner. * Resolve basic hardware and software issues. This includes installations and regular updates of all software as well as connecting pcs, monitors, printers etc. to the network. * Use problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot hardware and software to find the root cause of the issue. This includes remote troubleshooting. * Direct unresolved or more complex issues to the next level of support in a timely manner including documentation of troubleshooting steps that have already been taken. * Maintain a PC inventory database by tracking all serial numbers to ensure all resources are accounted for at all times. * Configure, install new PCs, and assist the user in adapting to their new system as smoothly as possible. * Keeps current with the latest in PC hardware and software technology. Uses technology for productivity improvements in the office and in off-site field locations. * Performs other appropriate functions as directed by the Technical Services Manager. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: * BS in Computer Science or relevant subject preferred with 0 – 2 years' experience or Associate Degree/A+ certification with 1 – 3 years' experience * Ability to travel occasionally to remote facilities that may require an overnight stay.
