The Chief Digital Office team strives to accelerate digital transformation at Kaiser Permanente. We advance KP-s Shared Agenda and Bold Moves, working to create exceptional experiences for our members, our workforce, and the communities we serve.

Intern Project:

The selected Intern joining the team will have first-hand experience working on a mobile app development project, such as our mobile development kit, the KP Mobile app, or a proof of concept.

We are looking for Interns with first-hand experience with Kotlin, Android Studio, Java, Swift, Objective-C or Java Experience with Xcode or Android Studio. A passion for mobile technologies. Interns who are Self-starters, Curious, Tenacious and Creative.

Essential Functions:

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.

  • Report development and analytics.

  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.

  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.

  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.

  • Performing additional duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or have graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university within the last year.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions

  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • 3.0 GPA or above

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.

  • Experience with Swift, Objective-C or Java

  • Experience integrating 3rd party source code and/or libraries

  • Experience consuming and developing XML or JSON web services

  • Working knowledge of Excel and Power Point

  • Knowledge of CocoaPods or Android Library Projects.

  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development principles and tools

  • Knowledge of agile development practices

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think logically

  • Adept at learning new technologies quickly

The Scientist/Sr. Scientist will implement and develop customer-facing application workflows for Purigen’s sample preparation technology. This is a challenging position for the highly qualified molecular biology specialist who wants to develop cutting-edge life sciences technologies in a fast-paced, start-up environment.</p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Identify and implement characterization methods to validate the performance of new products being developed on the Purigen platform (e.g. digital PCR, NGS, etc.)</li> <li>Drive feasibility, optimization and validation phases of applications development as an individual contributor in close collaboration with R&amp;D chemists, engineers, and marketing</li> <li>Design and conduct characterization experiments, and develop and refine applications workflows, using internal and external analytical resources</li> <li>Provide internal feedback to chemists and engineers on workflow and performance in order to facilitate optimization of consumable kits and platform performance (e.g. ease of use, quality, consistency, and overall application performance per defined metrics)</li> <li>Serve as a technical expert for coordination and support of early adopter customer testing - ensure alignment and readiness of platform prior to placement, and drive progress during testing at customer site (interact with test customers in training, use and support of Purigen’s platform and applications)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills:</strong></p><ul> <li>Must understand the principles of and have prior experience using commercial DNA and RNA sample preparation kits (i.e. off-the-shelf solid-phase extraction kits (beads and/or columns) and liquid-phase extraction reagents)</li> <li>Hands-on experience with multiple NGS workflows</li> <li>Must be skilled in molecular biology laboratory workflows and techniques for both DNA and RNA analysis, including amplification, quantitation (Nanodrop, Qubit, etc), electrophoresis (quality and fragment analysis), and next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and workflows</li> <li>Must be able to work efficiently as an individual contributor, and as a key member of a multidisciplinary team, to achieve project milestones in a fast-paced, dynamic environment</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desired Skills:</strong></p><ul> <li>Hands-on experience with the development of genomics applications on microfluidics-based instrumentation for the life sciences industry</li> <li>Hands-on experience with digital PCR</li> <li>Experience in developing new genomics applications workflows in a prior commercial product development role</li> <li>Hands-on experience as a technical contributor to early adopter/beta customer interactions and testing</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Experience:</strong></p> <ul><li>PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related fields with 2-5 years of prior product development experience in the life science tools industry</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Purigen Biosystems, Inc. offers medical, dental and vision benefits.</p> Purigen Biosystems Pleasanton CA
