Sets up and monitors database backups, space requirements, and consistency checks.
Provides physical data modeling, query analysis, routine maintenance, and performance tuning for existing databases.
Analyzes information requirements and develops specifications for database construction and maintenance to ensure economy, efficiency, safety of information and utilization of the new technical developments.
Installs and configures hardware and software for new databases. Assists in troubleshooting and technical system support for the database programming group.
Develops a methodology for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas.
Develops a security scheme for the database environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery if necessary.
Participates in the assesment of new hardware and software solutions.
The Database Administrator is responsible for providing technical and organizational leadership for the enterprise Microsoft SQL database environment or the Epic Cache database, including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies. Ability to use utilities, whether written or purchased to support and maintain the database environment is required.
