Designs and develops systems for the maintenance of the business's data warehouse, ETL processes, and business intelligence. Design, development, testing and maintenance of enterprise data warehouse and enterprise integration services.

Accountable for the full cycle of consulting, design, coding, testing and documentation of the company's data warehouse. Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other data consumers within the business in an attempt to gather and populate data warehouse table structure, which is optimized for reporting. Responsible for the development of integrity, security, and processing of business data and files.

Design and supports the database and table schemas for new and existent data sources for the data warehouse. Design and development of Data Marts. Partners with Data modeler and Data architect in an attempt to refine the business's data requirements.

Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other data consumers within the business in an attempt to gather and populate data warehouse table structure, which is optimized for reporting. Develop/create and support the ETL in order to facilitate the accommodation of data into the warehouse using SSIS/Datastage and other technologies. Develop a new data engineering process that leverage a new cloud architecture and will extend or migrate our existing data pipelines to this architecture as needed.

Works with Senior Technical Analysts and Developers to translate requirements into technical specifications. Participates in modernizing the EDW/platform by utilizing data architecture best practices. Collaborates with the EA team to build solutions that support VDOT's reporting, analytics, data exploration and data science needs.

Leads process improvement initiatives and sets best practice standards for development. This position is eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration are at the sole discretion of the Department Manager in accordance with VDOT's Teleworking policy. Minimum Qualifications

Experience as a project lead or manager. Highly proficient in the use of MS Team Foundation Server. extensively familiar with ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Load), data warehousing, and business intelligence tools such as business objects, PowerBI and Tableau.

Advanced knowledge of database design and modeling in the context of data warehousing. Understanding of Agile methodologies and processes. Skilled in diagnosing complex data warehouse ETL processes, business logic failures, and data flows, in order to quickly resolve issues.

IBM Datastage, Erwin, SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), ORACLE, T-SQL, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Datawarehouse. Operating System Environments (Windows, Unix, etc.). Scripting experience with Windows and/or Python, Linux Shell scripting. Experience with key data warehousing architectures including Kimball and Inmon, and broad experience designing solutions using a broad set of data stores (e.g., HDFS, Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure CosmosDB.

Extensive knowledge of data analytics technologies as well as analytical and dimensional modeling. Must have knowledge of Excel, MS Project, MS Visio, and MS Team Foundation Server, which will all be necessary in the creation of visually and verbally engaging ETL, data designs and tables as well as the communication of documentation and reporting. College degree with major coursework in computer science, engineering, business administration or a related field; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree.

Advanced understanding of data integrations. Strong knowledge of database architectures.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally. Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.

Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
