The job opportunity

We are seeking an IT Customer Support Specialist to provide expert technical support for all endpoint hardware and software and provide and manage user accounts and access controls. This critical role supports both OFM and the Governor's Office affiliates, helping empower their employees with reliable technology services that, in turn, enable these agencies to better serve other state entities and the residents of Washington.

This role operates in a dynamic, high-stress environment where visibility to elected and appointed officials is frequent. You will interact regularly with top-level executives, agency leaders, and division heads, requiring a composed and professional demeanor at all times.

What you will work on:

  • Independently provide technical expertise and advice in troubleshooting and solving connectivity issues, imaging and managing endpoint devices (laptops, desktops, peripherals, etc.), and supporting browsers and software/applications.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation in support of the endpoint environment.

  • Create, manage, query, and modify user, group, and computer accounts within Active Directory and Exchange.

  • Manage file structure and access control for end user file shares and unstructured data.

  • Collaborate with security personnel to ensure all standards, policies, and processes adhere to industry standards and best practices and comply with federal, state, and agency requirements.

  • Prepare equipment for new user orientations as needed (these typically occur on/around the 1st and 16th of each month).

  • Assist in the development and presentation of key IT information to new users on their first day.

  • Assist new users in logging in for the first time, and verify each new user understands critical information like how to connect to VPN and manage those connections appropriately.

What we need you to bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of demonstrated experience in analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining: *Education may substitute for 2 years of experience.

  • Computer software applications, or

  • Computer hardware, or

  • Providing technical customer support

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience creating scripts via PowerShell, VBS, etc. for use in administration automation and monitoring.

  • Experience with Microsoft Enterprise Configuration Manager (MECM, formerly SCCM) for deployment of images and software packages.

  • Experience maintaining connectivity and troubleshooting issues within a local area network (LAN).
