Annual Security Report Notice

Pace is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the students, faculty, staff and visitors to the University. The report contains information on security policies as well as crime and fire statistics for the University.

The Student Assistant's primary work responsibilities will be performed in the PLV Campus Computer Resource Center / Walk-In Center, ITS Helpdesk, and 311 Call Centers and will involve providing great customer service and technical support to end-users, as well as performing other office and administrative functions in order to maintain all computer lab/classroom operations and related equipment.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • providing professional and courteous customer service to all lab users
  • answering phones, greeting visitors, and taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as needed
  • assisting users with MyPace account activation and password resets
  • assisting users with their Pace OneCard activation, Pharos printer login, and other printing issues
  • helping to troubleshoot issues with Pace systems (e.g. Portal, Classes LMS, Email, Wireless, etc.)
  • helping to troubleshoot hardware and software problems on Windows and Mac computers (both desktop and laptop), as well as other computer peripherals and mobile devices
  • using remote support tools to troubleshoot issues for on-campus and off-campus users
  • performing virus scans and virus removal using free and licensed virus removal tools
  • helping to create and maintain technical and self-help documentation
  • entering Web Help Desk (WHD) tickets for "walk-ins" with computer issues
  • performing tasks related to open WHD tickets and updating them with the latest comments
  • restocking printers with toner and paper and removing paper jams as needed
  • opening and closing computer classrooms for faculty and staff before and after scheduled use
  • taking inventory of CRC, office, and printing supplies and replenishing supplies as needed
  • maintaining all department areas and supported lab/classrooms clean and organized
  • performing miscellaneous clerical duties and providing administrative support to the department
  • assisting and completing other projects and/or tasks as assigned

Responsibilities may be added or changed as necessary.

Note: Some heavy lifting may be required.

Students must possess general computing skills, basic troubleshooting methodology, proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Windows operating system, strong communication and customer service ethic/skills, and the ability to act efficiently, independently or unsupervised in a busy work environment. Knowledge of Apple/Mac products is a plus. In addition to the above requirements, students must display strong leadership skills and dependability, as well as making independent decisions to resolve user or student worker issues while maintaining department policies.

Fall/Spring Semester: Hours may vary based on need… Monday-Thursday 8am-10pm, Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday-Sunday 12pm-6pm

Summer I & II Semesters: Hours may vary based on need… Monday-Thursday 8am-10pm, Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday-Sunday 12pm-6pm

Interim/Break: Hours may vary based on need… Monday-Thursday 8am-8pm, Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday-Sunday 12pm-6pm
