National Gypsum Company is a fully integrated manufacturer and supplier of building and construction products worldwide including Gold Bond BRAND gypsum wallboard, ProForm BRAND joint treatment products and PermaBase BRAND cement board.

We have an immediate opening for a IT Communication Operations Lead, at our Corporate Office in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, NC. This position will report to the Manager of IT Service Operations.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Communication Operations Lead works with technical resources inside and outside the company to deliver voice and data communication services supporting all National Gypsum locations and processes. The job priority is to provide highly reliable communications services and maintain excellent customer service for all assigned projects and service requests from key customers.

The Communication Operations Lead manages the activities of the Communications Team and provides technical guidance and assistance in functions such as WAN and LAN installation/upgrades, monitoring, supplier management, and communications strategy. The Communication Operations Lead also provides end-user support for voice, data, audio/video, and conferencing services.

The Communication Operations Lead plans and organizes implementation and expansion strategies for the company's networked voice/data systems and manages supplier relationships with service providers.

This position requires solid skills in project management, team leadership, inter-personal communication, and technical documentation.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide management and leadership to the Communications Team in day-to-day network operations and administration

  • Provide project planning, task loading/tracking, oversight, and technical direction to the Communications Team

  • Conduct annual objective assignments, mid-year and annual performance reviews

  • Ensure successful cross-team relationships are developed and maintained

  • Identify recurring and potential communication service issues, make recommendations for resolution and implement approved changes

  • Ensure adequate team coverage during business hours and coordinate off-hour support when necessary

  • Maintain a high level of customer service for all assigned projects, service requests, and incidents

  • Perform network capability and capacity planning. Lead and manage all work related to network design, configuration, tuning, and upgrades

  • Provide operational support for all efforts to develop, test, and implement network disaster recovery plans

  • Plan and implement new communication systems, applications, software, and services as directed by the IT leadership team

  • Maintain strong relationships with key partners/providers such as AT&T, Ring Central, and other key network system providers such as Cisco, Palo Alto, etc. Assist in contract negotiations with all communications services and equipment / software providers

  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of IT Service Operations

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA degree in computer science or related technical field preferred, or a significant number of years experience in data processing. Technical certifications - any telephony, data networking or technical software like Cisco CCNA or CCIE, Microsoft MCSE or other similar recognized certifications preferred

  • 5 or more years experience with implementing and supporting communications networks

  • Data networking experience with LAN and WAN design, administration and support - emphasis on Windows Networking and Microsoft Software

  • TCP/IP and Remote Access Services

  • Telephony hardware / software and equipment support

  • Network equipment - particularly Cisco hardware

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Good interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written skills

  • Able to work independently but also must be a strong team player and leader

  • Focused on quality solutions, technical support and excellent customer service

  • Effectively address emergency outages, unplanned service disruptions, and manage customer impact

Job Summary: (100% Travel Required)The Lead Communication Tech will act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. The Lead's task will be to ensure job completion according to Company and customer quality and safety requirements while supervising the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project. Job Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Consistently run major project crews; assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; assume responsibility for adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings; initiate performance related communications and escalate to Project Manager if necessary. 2. Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion and compliance with project budget. 3. Fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL and project paperwork accurately and on time (specifically timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required). 4. Perform quality checks; coordinate moves and cut sheets for voice and data cross connects; prepare red-lined as-built drawings. 5. Serve as main on-site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; attend facility and constructions meetings when required. 6. Perform work consistently demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise. 7. Other responsibilities as assigned.
