In this IT Business System Analyst position, you will work with both the business and IT leaders to develop and optimize systems, processes and data analysis across the organization. We will look to you to be responsible for collaborating with all levels of business and information technology teams to perform analysis, debugging, configuration, testing, training, documentation, implementation and maintenance for existing and new technology solutions. You will participate and lead multi-functional efforts, work with multiple technologies, and tackle difficult business problems while increasing technical knowledge throughout the organization. We need you to lead medium to large initiatives that may be strategic and/or multi-functional by conceptualizing those complex business problems and translating business objectives into actionable solutions to deliver the most cost effective, innovative technology solutions for required business needs.

Job Duties

  • Capture and analyze business and systems requirements by conducting interviews, work flow analysis, process analysis, and observation that specify how a business system supports/enables work activities and the user roles performing the work activities

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications

  • Analyze data to identify patterns and solutions to root causes of problems

  • Partnering with IT and business partners to drive business value and continuous improvement

  • Design solutions using pre-existing and new technologies

  • Balance multiple deadlines and prioritize work

  • Tackle technical problems and recommend solutions

  • Craft risk-based testing strategies to include functional, non-functional and performance testing

  • Develop and deploy test scripts to refine and debug software

  • Work with business and software developers to identify and resolve issues

  • Support testing and facilitate communication to partners

  • Document specifications and mapping requirements for workflows, reports, data, and system integrations

  • Create reports, dashboards and author technical documentation to support system configuration, business continuity planning and policy and procedures

  • Prepare end-use documentation and participate in training

  • Support software deployment activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required

  • Experience with requirements gathering

  • Travel will be required for this position, on an as needed basis (minimal)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in the Financial Services industry; New Business and Underwriting areas preferred

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) disciplines preferred

  • Demonstrable experience analyzing and documenting business processes and requirements

  • Strong Organizational Skills; Very detail oriented while fully understanding the big picture

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Willing to take initiative, work in ambiguity and assume responsibility

  • Aptitude for learning new technologies quickly and technically proficient

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic team environment

Underwriters involved in the renewal of business are typically assigned a block or region of cases and communicate their decisions in a manner that contributes to both the profitability of the product and the reputation of the company. * Policies & Procedures – responsible for the processes, tools, and knowledge management systems that support the efforts of the Rating and Renewing underwriters. Major responsibilities include the creation of new and review of existing process and policy documents, development and testing of underwriting system tool enhancements in concert with the Pricing and Information Technology teams, and maintenance of existing system Underwriting tools to assure performance and execution within the teams is strong. * Analytics – responsible for the review and presentation of management and marketplace information to improve the decision-making and the line of sight into business portfolio performance in support the strategic action-planning by the leadership team.
