Electronic Systems (ES) is one of three L3 business segments, and provides a broad range of components, products, subsystems, systems and related services for military and commercial customers. We are searching for a IT Director, Business Relationship Executive (BRE) supporting our Power & Propulsion Systems Sector based in Anaheim, CA.

In this role, the successful candidate will report directly to the Electronic Systems Segment Vice President, Information Technology and work closely with the senior segment leadership team, Sector Presidents and IT functions.

Delivering Results & Demonstrating Success:

  • Act as the principal technology advisor to the Power & Propulsion Systems and a champion for identifying, leading and driving information technology transformation

  • Develop deep knowledge of the Power & Propulsion Systems Sector and build both horizontal and vertical relationships with business and IT leaders that deliver business impact

  • Ensure that Power & Propulsion Systems Sector's strategy and key performance indicators are identified and leveraged for effective IT demand shaping

  • Coach business functional areas leaders and enable them to articulate the technology needs and requirements in their function that will advance business performance

  • Partner with business and IT leaders to evaluate proposals, build business cases, and plan new joint initiatives, and determine how they fit into business capability roadmaps and priorities

  • Collaborate with enterprise architects and business analysts to develop technology enablement roadmaps and to ensure that essential business requirements are understood, captured, and reflected in solution documentation

  • Innovate with business unit or function leaders on pre-project ideation

  • Partner with business transformation or change management teams to ensure that the business unit or function has the capacity and capabilities to implement changes required by new technology solutions

  • Ensure that project/program managers and IT staff assigned to projects are knowledgeable about the business unit or function, business partner(s), and their objectives

  • Confirm delivery of new technology solutions and capabilities in accordance with the roadmap and ensure that they meet established objectives and expectations of business partners

  • Share ownership of the business value results of technology related projects; measure and communicate business value results on a regular basis

  • Bring outside-in or fresh perspectives into the organization by routinely meeting with end customers/consumers, industry peers, and other external sources

  • Ensure continuous improvement in value optimization, IT performance, and business processes where applicable

  • Proactively identify business capability and IT service gaps and contribute to improvement efforts

  • Advocate for and advance business functional areas knowledge of IT processes, frameworks, roles, and capabilities

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, business, or a related field

  • Master degree is preferred

  • Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM) certification is preferred

Experience:

  • 10 to 15 years of IT experience with a minimum of 5 years leading and managing teams and a broad range of exposure to various technical environments including but not limited to infrastructure and cloud services, ERP and application portfolio management, compliance requirements, project management, and risk management

  • A minimum of 5 years developing and executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in strategic planning, alignment of strategic plans with corporate objectives, and working with a broad range of diverse and complicated business units

  • Ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner vertically within the business unit or function, as well as with leadership and functional teams

Travel requirements

  • 25-50% travel required, some international
