About the Position:

Direct the management ofa number of global initiatives / Business case from initiation to completion thatdelivers business change and subsequent benefits. Lead strategic project planningand annual investment planning. Liaison senior/executive management businesspartners to plan and ensure creation of balanced portfolio aligning with ITbudget objectives. Drive initiatives to roll out process improvement initiativesand functionality to support new operating model defined by the company. Leadsand manages portfolio of the business unit and business stakeholder management.Directs and coordinates budget activities of multiple projects and evaluatesthe impacts of changes from original portfolio plans across multiple projectsto provide direction.

Leads strategies toremove barriers to ensure that portfolio initiatives are delivered on time andwithin budget with end to end accountability. Partners with internal andexternal stakeholders for the delivery of technology solutions for the assignedbusiness unit(s) / functions(s). Provides leadership to executive management todetermine future technology / systems direction for both internally developedand vendor maintained systems. Performs research, feasibility studies topromote innovation and credible business solutions with optimal cost options.Develops business strategies, road maps, and plans that impact Businessoperations and sustainability. Translates planning into delivery execution forvarious programs/projects ranging from rationalizing legacy systems to technologymodernization with innovative solutions to future proof the business.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Manage Business relationship and provide thought leadership toprovide solutions for complex business challenges.

  • Lead Portfolio calibration and manage demand for in year andfuture investments including benefit realization.

  • Successfully shape and deliver a range of complex and challengingprograms to deliver business value

  • Introduce and embed a culture of commercial rigor to the team

  • Ensure the rationale for all projects is underpinned by a strongbusiness case which is transparent to the program sponsor within the businessand maximizes National Grids investment in technology.

  • Ensure that the value of each program is evident using businessmodels

  • Directing programs within a business function utilizing allavailable resources and relationships

  • Managing dependencies, risks, plans, costs and resourcing needsacross multiple programs

  • Ensures that the Program offers a range of options and implementsa change which achieves the objectives that have been set and that the businessbenefits are realized

  • Initiates formal reviews of the Program and its achievements

  • Engage and influence stakeholders

  • Introduce best practice program and project management principlesand ensure these are adhered to. Operate as a role model for Valued BusinessPartner, championing similar behaviors across IS


Managea number (3 - 5) of Program/Portfolio initiatives. These initiatives will have 5-8 direct and/or indirect reports. The organization is designed to deliver CAPEX and OPEX and other customer efficiencies based on business and IT targets.

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Extensiveexperience at successfully delivering challenging and complex technologyprograms/ business change involving working with globally based employees and developmentpartners

  • Has theability to influence and manage senior stakeholders at Director/EVP level.

  • Has proven leadership,relationship, communication and presentation skills

  • A goodknowledge of the business and IS strategy and drivers.

  • UnderstandsNational Grids policies, management structures and reporting procedures for allaspects of the Program's environment. Demonstrate the Valued Business Partner capabilities andbehaviors in all interactions with IS Colleagues, vendors and businessstakeholders.

  • Eachrole will be aligned to either Gas Distribution UK, Transmission UK, USBusinesses, FSS&C or Infrastructure.


  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Masters in Business Administration is preferred.

  • Relevant industry certification (e.g. Business Relationship Management, Managing Successful Programs, SAFE) desirable

This newly created project will be a significant undertaking for the business as we standardize and simplify our operational processes, upgrade the technical systems they run on, build on our compliance programs in a rapidly changing external environment, develop and enhance how we use technology in the field and ensure we have the right talent and resource plans to successfully deliver to our customers. The Analyst, Work and Scheduling Management position is a highly visible role, and will require a long-term commitment to the success of the Gas Enablement Team. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): The primary responsibility of the Analyst, Work and Scheduling Management role is to assist in the development and delivery of standardized end-to-end processes to support the future business. The Analyst, Work and Scheduling Management will collaborate across all Field Operations and Gas and Electric Meter Services driving for consistency across all legacy operating companies with specific efforts to improve efficiency and leverage best practices. This individual will work very closely with the Performance Excellence Organization by leveraging the capabilities (i.e. personnel, methodology and tools) to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, operations, performance management, customer service and compliance. This role will assist a team of internal and external consultant partners aligned with the Work and Scheduling Management Process. The successful candidate will assist working groups actively collaborating in the development and delivery of improved end to end processes, through diagnosis, design, test/refine and implementation phases while minimizing disturbance to the day to day business and ensuring compliance with regulations. Key Accountabilities, in the assistance role: * Analyze, design, and deliver new business processes related to Work and Scheduling Management. * Work with the business and other stakeholders to assess current capabilities and identify high-level customer requirements. * Identifies and escalates project risks, financial risks and employee resistance; partners with Director, CMO to develop change activities to mitigate risks and gain alignment with US Gas business leaders and key stakeholders. * Set up and maintain requirements. * Work with the internal team and consulting partners to define metrics and performance goals. * Participate in transitioning the requirements and use cases to the business, and ensure a clear and complete understanding of the requirements. * Assist in translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results, performance, and user acceptance testing. * Participate in quality management reviews of the end to end process designs, and other requirements to ensure they fulfill the requirements of the Gas Business. * Serve as a liaison to the business community. Participate in a user and task analysis to maintain the business community's perspective. Ability to work with both union represented and management personnel to build engagement and design ease of use and sustainability into new processes and systems. * Serve as a resource for the change enablement team as they evaluate training and performance support needs and design the training and performance support products. Knowledge & Experience Required: * Minimum of a Bachelor's degree preferably in an engineering/analytical business discipline or demonstrated experience with a considerable breadth and depth across maintenance, customer service, asset management, capital delivery and emergency response, preferably in implementing large scale change in a customer focused organization. * 2 years' experience at Grid working with Operations teams or equivalent. * Experience with activities focused on delivering superior operational performance and continuous improvement. * Ability to work cooperatively across diverse teams with potentially conflicting goals and objectives, * Experience working on a broad team comprised of diverse expertise and skills * Knowledge of company policies, procedures, field operations, organization structure, budgetary process, regulatory processes and labor agreements. * Strong MS Office suite, project management software skills. * Experience working in an Agile development environment.
