This position plays a significant role in assisting Senior Executives with risk management, achievement of strategic objectives and fulfilling the Company's promise to its policyholders. As a trusted advisor, the IT Auditor builds and cultivates effective business relationships while providing independent value-added audit and advisory services.

The IT Auditor participates on project teams that conduct independent assessments of Liberty Mutual's information systems, IT infrastructure, and IT internal control environment through the execution of risk analysis, control evaluation, and innovative audit testing procedures and techniques.

Individuals in the Internal Auditor role participate in the execution of audit and advisory projects from audit planning activities through completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the in-charge and/or Manager, contributes to risk analysis, control identification, and audit program development. Independently performs assigned audit testing and concludes on the effectiveness of controls. Identifies control gaps and exceptions from expected control activities and evaluates the potential impact. Demonstrates the ability to multi-task, by clearly documenting the results of testing on more than one audit concurrently.

  • Demonstrates development in technical and analytical skills to understand new and existing technologies. Interprets the associated risks, develops testing approach, and proposes solutions.

  • Develops increasing technical knowledge and understanding of the department's audit methodology, insurance industry concepts, Cyber Security, IT General Controls and Software Development Practices. Effectively, demonstrates these capabilities when completing assigned work.

  • Contributes to continuous improvement (CI) efforts

  • Demonstrates technical understanding of data analysis concepts and practices. Effectively uses the department's data analysis software to facilitate audit scoping and testing.

  • Effectively communicates audit issues and related recommendations in both technical and non-technical terms to Operational and IT management.

  • Develops an awareness of changes in IT audit practices, regulatory requirements, and IT Risk frameworks to understand their impact to Auditing and Liberty. (e.g. NIST Cyber, CSC, COBIT, ISO2700x)

  • Takes an active role in acclimating associate auditors and newer team members by sharing knowledge of the insurance industry, Company and Internal Audit department processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a comparative field.

  • At least 2 years of IT audit or information technology experience with a focus on security, risk management, or controls.

  • A passed CISA Certification Exam is preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

  • Demonstrated IT auditing skills or hands on experience in at least one of the following areas: system development & testing; UNIX; AS/400; Windows; Oracle, DB2, SQL; Cyber Security including Network/Web Application Firewall, and other network devices.

The BISO proactively drives alignment between business unit objectives and the enterprise security strategy. As a business enabler, the BISO ensures business decisions adhere to corporate security policies and are implemented with security top of mind, while being mindful to the practicalities of speed, agility, and business results. Based on CF & LMI strategic security needs, the BISO has strong influence over the delivery and priority of service features and development of new security services or products. With a focus on continuous improvement of the security culture, process, and technology that protect our policyholders and employees and informed by industry trends, the BISO drives a focus on security for all employees. About the role: * Initiates and fosters partnerships with CF & LMI stakeholders, such as IT leadership, Product Owners, and senior business executives; develops relationships that promote trust and increase efficiency and effectiveness of program implementation; balances individual customer needs with business priorities assuring alignment with Global Cybersecurity strategies. Participates in CF & LMI program increment planning events. * As a dotted-line member of the CF & LMI CIO leadership team, drives and influences a strategic cyber risk management vision that scales to the CF & LMI to effectively secure the business without slowing company innovation and execution. * Creates a broader understanding of the CF & LMI's strategic plans and needs within GCS organization to deliver on the CF & LMI's security needs. * Strongly influences the delivery and priority of service features and development of new security services or products. Support the development of risk remediation action plans or exception process as needed. * Ensures the priority of security work to CF & LMI teams is balanced appropriately amongst other CF & LMI priorities. * Drives the shared accountability for the delivery and ongoing management of secure applications. * With other CF & LMI-aligned BISOs and CISO, defines and effectively communicates key performance indicators (KPIs), key risk indicators (KRIs) and metrics. * Stays current with the external threat environment for emerging threats and ensure advisement to relevant stakeholders on the appropriate course of action. * Commits to continual learning, particularly as it relates to regulatory, technology, and cybersecurity and privacy industry trends, applying knowledge to global strategy and program improvements. * As applicable, collaborates with local counsel on incident resolution and regulatory compliance matters. * As needed to support SOC and/or legal functions pertinent to CF & LMI, assists in the management of security incidents and events to protect IT assets, regulated data, and the company's reputation. * Advocates for security recommendations for third party risk management with business owners of third-party relationships, such as decision to engage services, necessary remediation, and actions resulting from ongoing monitoring. * Advances the development of the security champion program to expand the depth and reach of security across the CF & LMI application development teams. * Develops and maintains a network of industry contacts; perform or direct research on industry trends, competitors, business and IT products; makes strategic and tactical recommendations. * In Managing Direct Reports: * Oversees operating plan and resource allocation for the department, including prioritization and staff deployment; acts based on changed priorities. * Assists in the staffing strategy and plan (# of FTEs, skills needed, depth of experience, internal and external staffing mix) for resources supporting an aligned CF & LMI. * Assists in defining individual performance objectives and development plans and ensures alignment with product and department objectives for resource supporting aligned CF & LMI. * Contributes to the appraisals and evaluates department and individual performance and makes compensation recommendations; oversees the appraisal process for resource supporting aligned CF & LMI. * Establishes financial plan for department and manages to plan; ensures financial plans are met by managers in department. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's or Master's Degree in technical or business discipline or related experience; Master's Degree preferred. * Generally more than 10 years related experience with 5 years in leadership role. * Demonstrated real world, hands-on technical design and implementation experience. * Strong familiarity with Information Security precepts, practices, and solutions. * Extensive knowledge across a broad range of identity and access management technologies. * In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies and their application to business opportunities. In depth knowledge of project delivery, business operations, objectives and strategies. * Advanced knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques. * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively influence others. * Ability to build collaborative working relationships with a broad range of enterprise stakeholders. * Strong decision making capabilities, with proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one. * May require domestic and international travel up to 25% to effectively partner with all business localities.
