IT Architect define, maintain and extend functional product architecture for the FIS Auto Finance Application. This is an expert level role, that takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to solve complex problems. Works independently, with guidance on only the most complex situations. Wide latitude for independent judgment. Often leads functional teams or projects. Guides application development team through development process. Ensures development is done right the first time and has an understanding of how products relate with other products and ensures interdependencies are in focus.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Documents and publishes appropriate architecture principles and standards, position papers, blueprints, best practices, patterns and frameworks.

  • Documents functional product solutions for key FIS product strategy and product management initiatives.

  • Documents functional product solutions for key FIS financial services sales opportunities leveraging defined functional component model libraries and the defined product line architecture roadmap.

  • Reviews functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements.

  • Acts as tie breaker on design decisions.

  • Documents and communicates opportunities to leverage inter-project synergies, application and enterprise software or infrastructure asset re-use and opportunities to expose application assets for enterprise consumption.

  • Communicates system architecture to technical and business audiences.

  • Other related duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

Requires the following experience or equivalent combination of education and experience as a minimum to enter any level of IT Architect job:

  • Must have led technology direction for multiple projects and led or presented architecture concepts outside realm of immediate workgroup

  • Demonstrated experience as application development system designer or technical lead on many "very large", i.e., 10,000 hours or more spanning more than 6 months projects

KNOWLEDGE and Experience Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of FIS Auto Finance application

  • General knowledge of auto finance industry

  • In-depth knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles including waterfall, iterative and other modern approaches to software development

  • Sixteen or more years of application development experience with eight or more years as programmer analyst specialist.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors

  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills

  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take

  • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed

  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts

  • Willingly and successfully fulfills the role of teacher, mentor and coach

General Duties & Responsibilities * Works individually or within a team on technology business consulting projects to meet specific client requirements, specifically with ALS-AF (Advanced Loan System - Auto Finance). * Serves as liaison between end-users and consultants during consulting projects. * Expertly researches and documents client needs, technology or regulations related to system design, enhancement and acquiring hardware or software that will impact multiple platforms and/or applications. * Defines product scope, objectives and requirements. Defines specifications and data models for product development and testing. * Creates detailed specifications from which programs will be written. * Analyzes marketplace, industry, company, technology trends and best practices, vendor products and services, etc. Also analyzes system impacts to other systems and procedures. * Devises and/or modifies processes and procedures to achieve greater efficiencies and to solve most complex technical problems related to computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results. * Assesses available technologies and recommends solutions to consulting team. * Writes test plans and test cases to ensure enhancements made to applications meet client needs and application integrity is maintained. * Conducts a variety of tests such as system, integration, readiness and acceptance tests. Conducts tests using client data to be certain client needs will be met. * Influences clients, business partners and service providers regarding priorities, hardware/software selection and/or vendor selection. * Consults directly with clients and may travel to client site. * May play a key role in training client and technical support personnel on enhancements, new systems or procedures. Training may be delivered one-on-one as knowledge transfer or in a classroom setting depending on number in audience and client preference. * May serve as pre-sales support specialist when needed. * Other related duties assigned as needed.
