This position will be located in: Fargo, ND


Provides leadership and direction in the management of technology supporting Sales and Marketing initiatives including commerce implementations (Hybris/Insite), custom mobile applications (SupplyTrax), SPM, and CRM applications. Administers the preparation and reporting of the department's short and long-range plans. Synchronizes individual IT department plans with overall department plans, and department plans with company goals and objectives. Plans for the IT Applications department's role at the enterprise and selects specific software technologies for satisfying the enterprise's business objectives. Also, responsible for fiscal management, communication, quality improvement, and employee development for the department.


Essential Functions

  • Oversees all activities that optimize the value, cost and risk of applications

  • Provides leadership, vision and direction to the application teams under management to ensure they will contribute to the company achieving its goals.

  • Works with IT leaders to develop technology strategy in the context of the business strategy.

  • Develops productive relationships with business leaders across the organization to influence how applications can enable new sources of value.

  • Defines and enhances methodologies and practices for the application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.

  • Transitions responsible teams from waterfall based SDLC to iterative self-learning agile based methodologies.

  • Manages application group personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.

  • Implements and manages application life cycle management status reporting, metrics and benchmarks.

  • Manages relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.

  • Oversees the assessment of the technical and business fitness of the application portfolio and their associated costs and risks.

  • Works with stakeholders and governance committees to define a prioritized set of business outcomes and application work to accomplish those outcomes within the limitations of the application budget.

  • Works with stakeholders to accomplish application work in a way that improves the business and technical fitness of the application portfolio and minimizes its ongoing support costs.

  • Oversees the application organization's successful delivery of these business outcomes in partnership with business colleagues.

  • Works with the information security team to ensure that the organization's applications are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated.

  • Leads the development and implementation of DevSecOps processes and tools in conjunction with security, infrastructure and operations to automate the handoff of code releases from development to production.

  • Ensures responsible teams execute service management practices exceeding customer expectations.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Conducts regular surveys of stakeholder satisfaction with applications, publishes the results and, where necessary, implements action plans to improve satisfaction.

  • Provides support and facilitates innovative and experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate


  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in computer science, engineering, finance, business management or a related field.

  • MS or MBA preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in Software design/development, mobile applications, application architecture, project management, software as a service (SaaS), software integration, automated software testing, data management/governance, business process analysis and technology systems administration in an enterprise environment.

  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise SAP ERP landscape.

  • Extensive knowledge and management of enterprise SAP technologies, including SAP's C/4 Customer Experience Strategy.

  • Deep understanding of Lean IT, agile development, and DevSecOps principles and frameworks.

  • Demonstratable experience delivering technologies with best in class User Experience(s).

  • 5+ years of experience with management of enterprise ecommerce and supporting systems, SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) preferred.

  • Prior wholesale distribution, or process improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) experience desirable.
