Provide technical leadership and support of business processes, applications, and projects from concept, through design, testing, documentation, validation and implementation. Strong manufacturing process knowledge will be required to be successful in this role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and support of business processes, applications, and projects from concept, through design, testing, documentation, validation and implementation.

  • Leads projects, solutions and/or processes of moderate to medium complexity.

  • Under minimal direction, performs basic analysis, design, implementation and maintenance activities in various areas of IT with specific focus on Apogee, building managements systems deployed in many global sites.

  • Must be able to effectively engage within teams and with business partners for collection and refinement of business requirements with strong emphasis in the manufacturing space. This includes being able to harmonize those requirements with global business teams.

  • Researches and validates innovative solutions (both external and internal), leveraging best practices for quality and process efficiencies.

  • Formulates and/or defines scope and objectives of feasibility studies.

  • Actively participate on committees representing inter/intra IT organizations.

  • Identifies, quantifies, and prioritizes solutions to address business and technical issues.

  • Prepares reports, records progress and creates solutions to IT problems/issues.

  • Leads assignments and/or maintains systems of medium to large complexity, including requirements definition, internal/external resource management and budgets.

  • Applies principles, concepts and practices of the IT Competency Model at the Analyst level.

  • Proactively enforces worldwide and local security policies to ensure IT information assets are protected.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field required with at least 2+ years relative professional experience; OR

  • Bachelor's with Master's degree in business, IT or related field

  • 1 year of manufacturing or manufacturing IT experience

  • Technical IT certifications preferred

  • Experience with Siemen's Apogee's building management system, historians, interfacing with PLC's, and manufacturing analytics are a plus.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 20% Domestic and International

Maintains Manufacturing Process Planning documentation and ensures the accuracy of labor standards. As a project leader, the incumbent must initiate, lead, and monitor improvements in current manufacturing methods and processes to improve part quality, schedule performance and to reduce manufacturing costs. Day in the life: * Provides on-going shop floor support for all machining, metal finishing and assembly methods for assigned product lines. * Creates conceptual designs for fixtures, gages and special cutting tools. Conducts tool design reviews with other Engineers, including the Toolroom, Sourcing, and outside suppliers. Expected to engage and provide feedback and guidance in design, manufacturability, cost, etc. with Tooling, Sourcing, or other Engineering Groups , Completes activities of the change control policy and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system in accordance with Medtronic Corporate CAPA system. * Lead activities of Lean Sigma projects and process improvements * Initiates drawing changes with the product design engineer to improve manufacturing quality to reduce costs. * Troubleshoots CNC programming problems on the production floor. Coordinates necessary program changes with the appropriate Engineer. * Provides technical support to purchasing personnel and suppliers by interpreting product drawings, initiating the development of manufacturing drawings and resolving technical production problems. * Responsible for the investigation of PCR's (Process Change Requests) received in the Manufacturing Engineering department, their rejection or approval, development and implementation of any process changes and proper documentation of any such changes. * Working with the Tooling Engineer, partners in the creation and improvement of manufacturing setup sheets for all machining, assembly, and finishing operations. Expected to provide best practices and establish the standard for less senior engineers in regards to approach and standardization of set-up sheets. * Makes appropriate changes in manufacturing methods, processes and Manufacturing Process Planning documentation when dictated by engineering drawing changes. Documents all changes through the Manufacturing Engineering process control system. * Resolves technical production problems on assigned product lines in machining, metal finishing and assembly operations working with shop employees and quality personnel. Is expected to be an expert in several areas of manufacturing. Examples may include but aren't necessarily limited to: anodization, machining, toolmaking, inspection methods, blueprint interpretation. * Maintains all manufacturing process planning documentation for assigned product lines. This includes item master, item balance, bills of material, routings and maintenance of labor standards. * Leads improvements in current manufacturing methods and processes to improve part quality, schedule performance and to reduce manufacturing costs. * Trains fellow engineers and other team members on improvements to manufacturing methods, products and new production equipment. * Travel as required for company business transactions. * Utilize PFMEA tools to perform process improvements * Lead root cause analysis investigations during completion of gCAPA's (Corrective Action/Preventative Action). Be the leader on ensuring that improvements are sustained by carefully conducting effectiveness checks, removing barriers, providing feedback to support or other necessary functional areas to ensure sustainability of improvements. * Performs other duties as assigned.
