Working alongside the industry's top talent, the IT Analyst, Grid Computing will be responsible for assisting with the management of the Actuarial Grids in the USA and Bermuda. These high-end computing environments are used to execute a variety of modeling activities critical to the retail fixed annuity and fixed index annuity markets, as well as related reinsurance activities. This role will contribute to developing strategic plans for the adoption of new technologies. The qualified candidate will collaborate with Actuarial leaders, Actuarial development staff, and the broader IT department in achieving the role objectives. This role also offers an excellent opportunity to gain a broad understanding of Athene's business and IT operations.
Responsible for assisting with the management of the Actuarial Grids in the USA and Bermuda.
Engage in related technical projects for the Actuarial department.
Identify and resolve potential issues before they affect the Actuarial department.
Maintain thorough knowledge of the Actuarial landscape and identify areas of potential enhancements and sharing.
Oversee the use of actuarial software across the enterprise.
Qualifications and Experience:
4+ years' IT experience in high-compute environments, including grid computing and parallel processing.
Understanding the demands that computational analytics and reporting places on hardware.
Ability to work independently with little guidance or direction.
Ability to balance multiple, competing priorities and projects.
A general, working knowledge of servers, networking, AD permissions, Data Exchange Interface, PowerShell, Databases, etc.
Background with MG-ALFA, Integrate, PolySystems, and/or other actuarial modeling platforms is highly desirable.
Desire to work in a fluid environment with daily changes to projects and priorities, requiring flexibility and perspective.
Exposure to cloud computing environments and the integration of public cloud infrastructure as a means of achieving burstable and/or dedicated horizontal or vertical scaling. Knowledge of GPU optimization techniques is also desirable.
Skillsets in SQL and SAS helpful.
Strong skillset with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Experience with macros and VB scripting helpful.
Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary for professional communications requires an ability to communicate with Actuaries and IT professionals, speaking to each in their own language and translating communications between the two areas.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or other technical field preferred.
