NASA's Mission Operations for the International Space Station is located at Johnson Space Center. On Jacobs' JETS contract we provide engineering services to JSC. Come join us and be a vital part of operating the largest space station ever built We're looking for a ISS Counter Measures Engineer.

The selected candidate for this role will:

  • Provide engineering support for flight processing and delivery of NASA's ISS Counter Measures System (CMS) hardware.

  • Work alongside project personnel during flight processing of hardware.

  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS) and flight hardware launch/return assessments.

  • Coordinate with Safety and Materials engineers to complete hardware flight assessments required for delivery and return.

  • Be the point of contact between CMS hardware to the Cargo Mission Contract.

  • Work in a team environment and report to a project lead/manager to provide status on progress and issues for support.

  • Create flight delivery schedules for CMS hardware and support system manifest and engineering meetings.

  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education/Experience/

Skills:

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school.

  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

Preferences:

  • Experience with NASA/JSC flight hardware certification and other flight hardware processes.

  • Experience with crew interface/communication.

  • Experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.

  • Experience with procedure development.

  • Co-op or Intern experience at JSC.

Work Environment

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs (5% of time).

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

The CMS group contains multiple exercise equipment on the International Space Station, including the Advanced Resistive Exercise Device (capability of squats, deadlifts, bench press, cable exercises, etc.), Cycle Egometer (Exercise Bicycle), Treadmill (T2), and Heart Rate Monitors.This position offers hands on experience with hardware that will fly to the Space Station and be used by Astronauts through hardware development, testing, manufacturing and assembly, and sustainment of flight hardware. * This is a temporary Spring intern position* The selected candidate will: * Provide engineering support for flight processing and delivery of NASA's ISS Counter Measures System hardware. * Work alongside project personnel during flight processing of hardware, learning and generating essential paperwork to document tasks, and working in a team environment. * Gain meaningful insight into real world life cycle phase of hardware and be a part of supplying Astronauts with equipment they need to stay healthy and safe aboard the ISS. * Potentially work on Data Trending, 3D printing hardware, flight hardware processing, and hardware design. * Perform other duties as required. Required Education/Experience/Skills: * Currently enrolled at an accredited university pursuing a degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. * Completed at least 60 credit hours. * Minimum of 2.8 GPA. * Experience with data analysis, CREO/CAD. * Proficient in excel and macros.
