Camp Achva at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia is looking for dynamic, fun, and motivated specialists to join our team this summer! Specialists are responsible for designing day-to-day/week-to-week curricula for their activity in conjunction with our weekly themes for the summer. Camp runs from June 24-August 16. Applicants should be able to work all 8 weeks (plus orientation).

Israeli Culture is offered to all groups K-8th grade throughout the summer. Activities are 30-minutes long, and should incorporate skill-building, skill-application techniques, and be overall fun and engaging for all ages.

Hours:

Full-time Summer position from 8:30am-4:30pm, June 17-Aug 16. Additional dates/times as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or older

  • Must have excellent communication skills, can plan and work independently as well as collaboratively in a day-camp environment

  • Possess a good sense of humor, a passion for working with children, and knowledge and experience in working with children with special needs

  • Must be flexible, creative, patient and comfortable managing challenging behaviors

  • Must take initiative and think on your feet

Essential Position Duties:

  • Attend Orientation Week (June 17-21)

  • Work either a full schedule (8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday) or 1/2 day schedule (AM shifts, 8:30-12:30 or PM shifts, 12:30-4:30 Monday through Thursday/Friday)

  • Go on occasional field trips throughout the summer

  • Smile all summer long

  • Let loose and fully embrace the camp spirit

  • Positively impact the lives of children and peers
