Position Overview: As a High School Athletic Trainer, you will play a crucial role in providing medical care to student-athletes and delivering comprehensive instruction in sports medicine.

This dual role combines hands-on athletic training with instructor responsibilities, focusing on educating students about the principles of sports medicine, injury prevention, and rehabilitation techniques. Key Responsibilities: Athletic Training:

Assessing and treating injuries sustained by student-athletes during sports activities. Providing immediate first aid and medical care for sports-related injuries. Developing and implementing injury prevention programs and protocols.

Designing and supervising rehabilitation exercises and treatment plans for injured athletes. Collaborating with coaches, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of student-athletes. Conducting pre-participation physical evaluations and screenings for student-athletes.

Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation for all athlete injuries and treatments. Educating athletes on proper nutrition, hydration, and injury prevention techniques. Sports Medicine Instruction:

Teaching two sports medicine classes per semester, covering topics such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, sports injuries, emergency care, and rehabilitation. Developing curriculum materials, lesson plans, and hands-on activities to enhance students' understanding of sports medicine concepts. Integrating current research and best practices into lesson content to ensure relevance and accuracy.

Providing practical demonstrations and laboratory exercises to reinforce theoretical knowledge. Facilitating discussions and case studies to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Organizing guest lectures, field trips, or workshops with sports medicine professionals to broaden students' exposure to the field.

Mentoring and advising students interested in pursuing careers in sports medicine or related healthcare professions. Assessing student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, and examinations. Work Schedule:

At least 200 contracted work days Benefits: This position is eligible for benefits including group insurance (health, dental and vision), paid sick and personal leave and elective retirement savings plans. Salary: The minimum starting pay is $47,000/year and step increases each year.

Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, or a related field. Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential from the Board of Certification (BOC). State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer.

Colorado Department of Regulator Agency Athletic Trainer License or eligible at the time of hire Teaching certification or eligibility for certification in CTE Health Sciences (State requirements https://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/cteworksheets/healthscience ). Strong knowledge of sports medicine principles, anatomy. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences for high school students.

Prior experience in athletic training, teaching, or sports medicine education is highly desirable. Commitment to promoting student health, safety, and academic achievement in a school setting.
