This job develops, installs, maintains and supports database management systems, administration tools and other associated products on a variety of platforms. Assists in maintenance of the corporate data dictionary and database reorganizations, consults with other IS departments on database issues, and provides technical assistance to the application development staff on file design and efficient techniques for extracting data. Implements data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes, resolves database performance and capacity issues, and replication and other distributed data issues, and adheres to standards, policies and procedures. Monitors database performance and proactively performs database tuning to enhance operations or increase database availability and reliability. Troubleshoots database problems, investigates database tools that will add value to the client's database environment, stays abreast of emerging database technology, and presents recommendations on new or upgraded database software; and adheres to change management procedures.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Strong conflict resolution skills
Strong technical skills
Design, install, maintain and support secure, highly reliable MS SQL database management platforms. Consult with other IS departments on database issues. Provide technical assistance to the application staff on design and efficiency of data extracts.
Monitor and proactively address capacity, performance, and reliability issues in the MS SQL environments. Adhere to standards, policies and procedures. Troubleshoot database problems.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies. Plan and present recommendations for new or upgraded database platforms. Adhere to change management policies.
Designs and develops databases and prepares implementation plans for application upgrades and rollout
Supports and maintains databases
Manages database optimization
Participates in training and quality improvement activities.
