Job Description

General Functions

This position oversees and performs specialized skilled and technical work in Park operations. Duties are determined by area of assignment. General direction is received from an assigned supervisor. Work is performed without close supervision, using judgment regarding related skills.

Irrigation Technician

  • Maintains irrigation systems throughout the Parks & Recreation Division.

  • Inspects projects for proper installation and coverage.

  • Directs/supervises staff while trouble shooting irrigation system problems.

  • Assigns work orders to irrigation staff.

  • Instructs staff in proper techniques and use of tracking/locating equipment.

  • Orders materials for projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of progressively responsible experience in irrigation systems and controllers.

The ability to maintain a valid Florida Commercial Drivers License for the type of equipment operated upon request of Orange County.

Preferences

Working knowledge of trenching equipment

Licensed as an Irrigation Contractor in the state of Florida

Pay Grade: 110 -- From $ 19.13 to $25.24

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
