QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• Required:

• High School graduate or equivalent.

• Must possess a Texas Operator's or class C driver's license and be insurable by the District.

• Preferred: Irrigation Technician License through Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Required: Good communicating and reasoning skills.

Experience:

• Required: Required 3 years experience in irrigation and repair with the ability to operate equipment (trencher and backhoe)and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems.

• Preferred: 2 years experience in design. Proficient in design with State of Texas seal/stamp.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrate supervisory capabilities.

• Demonstrate a willingness to work oveliime if necessary to ensure job requirements are satisfied and in the event emergency situations arise.

• Ability to communicate with Personnel at all levels in the school district.

• Demonstrate the willingness to work split shifts, nights, weekends and holidays as job requirements dictates.

• Ability to communicate with vendors, architects, engineers and other professionals pertaining to technical information concerning irrigation plans etc.

• Capable of drawing, evaluation and interpreting irrigation systems.

• Must be able to take directions and complete assigned tasks on schedule without direct supervision.

FUNCTION:

Under the direct supervision of the Site Maintenance Foreman. Assist with the maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment. Assist in supporting the activities of athletics site maintenance programs and projects.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:

• Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of complex irrigation systems.

• Makes repairs to irrigation systems including valves, rotors, sprinklers, backflow, and valve boxes.

• Responsible for the installation of time clocks that operate irrigation systems.

• Responsible for making necessary repairs and adjustments to maintain all systems in proper working condition.

• May compile and submit reports and records on conditions of all systems.

• Responsible for the inventory of parts, supplies and equipment of irrigation systems.

• Conducts regular system inspections and performs trouble shooting exercise.

• Ability to install time clocks that operate irrigation systems.

• Performs related work as required and as directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Lifting (heavy, 45 pounds or over}, carrying (heavy, 45 pounds or over}, stooping, walking, climbing (stairs, ladders, scaffold, ramps), balancing, crouching, kneeling, pulling, crawling, working in confined areas, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, visual acuity, driving (car, truck, bus).

• Outside temperature extremes, noises, vibrating, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, kneeling, chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dusts, smoke, etc.), inside, humidity extremes, low or intense illumination, microwaves, uneven surfaces, works with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts, works alone, prolonged or irregular hours, biological exposure (insects, mold, fungi, bacteria, animals, plants, etc.).
