This position performs journey level skilled tasks associated with maintenance, repair and installation of irrigation systems at the Goodyear Ballpark and Player Development Complexes. This is accomplished by performing tasks in inspecting, auditing, diagnosing and repairing irrigation systems. Maintains and monitors centralized computer systems. Develops and implements irrigation system procedures and programs for the safe and efficient delivery of irrigation water.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years experience with professional sports field irrigation systems with respect to programming, field repairs and water conservation. Candidate must be a proven leader with a minimum of one year of supervisory experience and demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment. A minimum of one year experience with landscape irrigation systems is preferred. Candidate must be able to adapt to flexible work shifts/times, work in extreme outdoor environments and display strong initiative.

Monitors and maintains the centralized computer system for malfunctioning equipment at the Goodyear Ballpark and Player Development Complexes.
Shares information with appropriate personnel for repairs and participates in troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware for the computerized irrigation system.
Operates the radio network interconnecting irrigation controllers throughout the city while monitoring, adjusting and repairing peripheral equipment as necessary to maintain compliance with FCC regulations. Maintains an optimum level of operation.
Maintains and repairs irrigation systems used in the delivery of irrigation water.
Plans, develops and implements irrigation programs to control all irrigation sites.
Assists in establishing and conducting in-house training programs for park personnel regarding Field Irrigation and Water Management related to the Central Computerized Irrigation Systems.
Completes monthly water usage report and assists with regular water system assessments throughout the city's medians and parks, to ensure compliance with Arizona Department of Water Resources requirements.
Develops and maintains Irrigation System procedures.
Acts as a liaison with Information Systems regarding computer software and hardware issues.
May lead a small work crew of employees as needed to repair or replace irrigation systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Community college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
Experience: Minimum three years of experience in a related field.
Certifications and Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License, must possess one of the following certifications (or equivalent) and within one year of hire must obtain or possess a second certification (or equivalent) from the following:
Arizona Structural Pesticide License in Right of Ways or Turf & Ornamentals
Certified Master Gardner
Arizona Certified Landscape Professional
Turf Grass Professional
Certified Arborist by the I.S.A.
Certified Backflow Inspector

Reading: Work requires the ability to read traffic reports, contracts, specifications, blueprints, budget information, memorandum, and general correspondence.

Ballpark Irrigation Specialist Goals and Objectives
Apply for Pesticide Applicator's License and enroll in training course to prep for exams required for this license.
Familiarize yourself with operational SOP's and attend hands on trainings.
Learn, understand and become proficient with the Calsense irrigation system and Command Center.
Monitor daily and monthly water usage amounts to ensure we stay within our target allotments.
Build field and zone profiles in Command Center to better utilize the evapotranspiration technology.
Develop a complex wide maintenance plan for all fields which should include: nozzle size, sprinkler head type, and valves.
Evaluate and develop a plan to reduce water usage at Goodyear Ballpark and Player Development Complexes.
Become familiar and participate in the Parks and Recreation Department Safety Program.
