This position is responsible for responding to the more complex inquiries and requests from internal and external customers and resolving problems involving retirement accounts, including contributions, distributions, statements, tax forms and regulations and utilizing knowledge, skills and experience to provide guidance and advice to Retirement Operations Reps.
Develops and maintains specialized knowledge of internal policies, procedures and all job functions of the team, as well as IRS rules and regulations pertaining to retirement products.
Acts as a resource to Retirement Operations Reps regarding various problems including application out of balance, exception processing and reversals.
Responds to inquiries and requests from internal and external customers regarding issues involving compliance interpretation. Follows up with written documentation as necessary.
Monitors work processed on the team to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures and IRS regulations and guidelines.
Assists in the balancing of retirement applications and processes all transactions performed in department.
Processes research requests for internal and external customers regarding beneficiary information, tax reporting and interpretations of IRS regulations.
Processes requests from external customers regarding transfers in/out, distribution, rollovers, death, conversions and re-characterizations.
High School diploma or equivalency required.
1-3 years relevant experience.
Ability to develop and maintain specialized knowledge of retirement plans, IRS regulations including ERISA and EGTRRA and internal policies and procedures related to retirement accounts.
Strong written, verbal and math skills are necessary to provide courteous and professional customer service.
Ability to handle complex situations using effective problem solving skills.
Strong PC skills including electronic mail and standard industry applications. Ability to learn additional applications as necessary.
Ability to lead a team and share knowledge and skills.
Organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary to assist management with various day-to-day tasks.
