IP/Console Design Release Engineer

Electrifying the future will include development instrument panels (IP) and consoles that contain a wide array of next generation displays and electronics. You will balance a list of vehicle and occupant performance requirements while engineering the highly styled instrument panel and console. These are the major systems that customer sees and touches daily.

Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across global vehicle programs

• Use engineering tools and demonstrate CAE groups including Safety Performance to optimally develop the best system solution

• Assessment of design to manufacturing processes (e.g. injection molding, vibration welding, vacuum forming, foam-in-place, wrapping) for instrument

panels and consoles

• Assessment of design to manufacturing processes used for IP Structures. Processes include steel & aluminum stamping and extrusion as well as robotic welding, magnesium die casting, and hybrid concepts.

• Package components and collaborate with other systems within the vehicle (Thermal, Electrical, Body, Chassis, Restraints, etc.)

• Work multi-functionally to support initial vehicle configuration work, realize cost optimization, deliver customer focused requirements, and implement product and process improvements

• Balance business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing

• Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations (e.g. Creative Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality,

suppliers) and lead the product development team (PDT)

• Stay ahead of relevant new technology and driven products

Initiates the design process

Performs the design analysis

Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies

Assists in maintaining cost controls

Provides technical direction to support personnel

Initiates supportive build programs

Plans and implements test and/or development programs

Coordinates with suppliers and/or customers on a frequent basis

Stays abreast of new technology

Regular contract with others outside the work group

Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Must have

Engineering Degree

Injection Molding

Interior plastic parts OR IP OR Console DRE Exp
