Location: Based out of our Madison, WI office, this role requires four days per week onsite.
OVERVIEW
The Investment Portfolio Manager will deepen their understanding of First Business Bank's investment portfolio while expanding capabilities and strengthening confidence in business development. This individual will support client retention efforts by meeting and presenting to clients and having ownership over an assigned portfolio. This individual will be a trusted contact for many of the company's relationships. Over time, increased business development responsibilities will be expected to work towards independence in expanding the portfolio.
Essential responsibilities for this role include:
- Study, learn and master investment management software, including both external and internal proprietary systems
- Articulate FBB's investment process to client (and prospects)
- Translate client objectives and risk tolerance into appropriate strategy and verify alignment
- Perform and document formal annual client investment review
- Bring new investment ideas to proper FBB forums
- Manage client portfolio rebalancing process
- Articulate historical and forward-looking market and strategy outlook to clients
- Respond to client inquiries within half a day
- Manage portfolio transition for new clients or meaningful client flows
- Work with the team to complete RFPs and marketing/sales decks
- Make sure directed positions are properly documented
- Review clients' legacy retained assets and whether they can be disposed.
- Understand and communicate income and tax-related investment considerations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A 4-year College degree is required preferably in a finance, financial planning, banking, investments, economics, accounting, business administration, engineering disciplines, computer science or similar.
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience post college is required with a hunger to work in a fast-paced environment in a portfolio management capacity.
- A desire to be client facing
- A willingness to achieve a CFA, CIMA, CAIA or CFP designation on a timely basis is required.
- NASD Series 6 or 7, Series 65, and State Insurance Licenses are not required.
- Communicates Effectively, Optimizes Work Processes, Drives Results, Makes Quality Decisions, Demonstrates an Ability to be a Nimble Learner, and Exhibits Tech Savvy.
- A hunger to learn and develop knowledge on the purposes of various financial instruments and products.
- A desire to learn how to assess the risks and rewards inherent in a wide-ranging variety of financial instruments and to share that information with the Trust Investment Committee and clients/prospects.
- Proficiency in mathematics, including statistical analysis is important.
