Investment Portfolio and Hedging Specialist

The Investment Portfolio and Hedging Specialist assists the Portfolio Manager and Director in the management of fixed income securities portfolio, a major provider of liquidity and interest income to the overall balance sheet, pension plan assets and execution and operational aspects of the hedging program. Incumbent is responsible for all operational facets including, but not limited to, preparing, reporting, and analyzing securities and hedging portfolio performance and risks. Responsible for articulating market developments and monitoring and validating business line expenses. Also responsible for supporting the Treasurer in their involvement with the Investment Subcommittee which oversees various Comerica's retirement plans.

Position Responsibilities:

Portfolio/Asset Management

  • Independently maintain operational aspects of the investment portfolio management process. This includes tracking purchases, sales, and repositioning of the portfolio, month-end pricing, responding to inquiries, and working with the Backoffice and Accounting

  • Act as the subject matter expert on securities and ALLM derivatives for the following financial systems- Intrader, Openlink, Yield book, Bloomberg, to extract data and ensure accurate reporting of portfolio trends

  • Interpret and opine on interest rates, bond markets, Federal Reserve policy, present at weekly markets meetings.

  • Assist in analysis and execution of balance sheet hedging transactions.

  • Maintain and deepen working knowledge of various investment options (e.g., Treasuries, Agency MBS, CMOs, and CMBS) culminating with security selection recommendations.

  • Collect evaluate and prepare data to generate quarterly peer analysis.

  • Provide portfolio performance reporting monthly.

  • Perform and document portfolio pricing, be able to respond to requests for additional stress testing and what-if analysis.

  • Support the operations of the hedging program execution with transaction recording and reporting, prepare dashboards and reporting tools to facilitate management communication.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or mathematical field
  • 5 years of Banking or Financial Management Experience
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) License Preferred
