Investment Operations Specialist

This position is within HIMCO Business Operations, which is responsible for maintaining and supporting all Investment Book of Record (IBOR) information, in order to provide accurate data for investment decisions, accounting (ABOR), performance, internal and external reporting.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?
Identifying, investigating and resolving exceptions of security position differences between internal records and external custodian records
Identify and track exceptions in a timely manner following established guidelines
Creating and maintaining relationships with vendors, banks and other related counterparties.
Maintaining knowledge of market specific processes
Establish and maintain portfolios in internal Accounting and trading systems
Assist with external vendor activities which includes tracking of payments to vendors and vendor contracts.
Coordination of internal SOX Control testing and external/internal Audit requests
Ongoing maintenance of state deposits and reporting for state deposits
Recommend and assist in implementing process improvements including working with custodial banks and implementing available new systems capabilities using vendor tools.
Develop/maintain processing procedures and cross-training with peers on assigned tasks.
Assist in departmental level initiatives and projects; provide input and support to project, testing and implementation.
Facilitate the accurate and timely delivery of critical business information among all necessary parties
BS/BA degree in Finance, Business or 1-3 years or relevant experience preferred.
Basic understanding of technology, including Excel, with the ability to adapt to new and changing systems.
Fundamental understanding of investment products and securities operations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment; strong customer service focus.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
