The Role

As the Program Manager, you will coordinate and direct project team efforts toward realization of marketing strategies, objectives and communications. In partnership with the Marketing Manager, you will control all execution activities and directs team members involved in the project life cycle including resource planning, design, development, implementation, and completion of the project. You will maintain an efficient process for all marketing/business communications and collateral updates, resulting in a compliant environment as well as the attainment of measurable business goals driving market awareness of Lincoln's products and/or services for assigned area(s) of responsibility.


Program Management

  • Manages the planning, coordination, resources, and timing of project team activities to deliver marketing communications and supporting collateral, with a focus on product and investment communications.

  • Compiles and maintains project management information. Analyses and reports progress of the projects regarding timing, resources, and risks. Recommends corrective measures when appropriate to ensure efficient execution.

  • Performs and delivers on routine assignments/projects while simultaneously leveraging and applying knowledge of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Identifies and communicates to management process improvements that reduce workloads or improve quality for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Implements components of marketing plans, in collaboration with marketing and campaign management, which are driven by assigned area(s) of responsibility's business goals.

  • Creates business communications and marketing collateral, in collaboration with Marketing Manager, that support consistent enterprise core messaging and business goals for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

  • Ensures marketing collateral and communications are accurate, consistent in terms of style, quality tone of voice, and which may optimize market awareness of Lincoln's products and/or services.

  • Builds relationships and partners with internal resources such as editorial, design, legal, compliance, and digital to develop marketing communications and materials.

  • Reviews performance metrics that track and assess the effectiveness of assigned marketing plan components to management and/or appropriate internal stakeholders.

  • Coordinates and/or participates in all assigned marketing projects.

  • Utilizes resources to ensure marketing communications and collateral are compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements and is consistent with Lincoln editorial and branding standards

4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)


  • 3 - 5+ Years' experience in marketing, product/investment communications or project management that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position

  • Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines

  • Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures

  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance) * Collaborate with Business Relationship Management and finance teams to support project intake, vetting and prioritization processes within each portfolio, sub-portfolio, and across portfolios as needed * Define strategy around portfolio and project selection process, based on IT resources and business needs. * Ensures the project management team follows standards and methodology for portfolio and project management, from intake to estimation to execution and delivery to closure. * Assists in the creation and maintenance of the global IT governance program * Serves as a resource to senior executives by developing and leading internal consulting efforts around intake for executive ideas/initiatives * Facilitate the governance and portfolio status review meetings; identify and quantify variances, complete any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders * Coordinate the development of key frameworks such as Risk and Resource Management. * Provide transparency to portfolio investments, manage the financials, and works with the project managers and relevant stakeholders to review forecasting against budgets * Identify, track, and help resolve cross-portfolio dependencies and conflicts * Ensure that portfolio benefits are defined and managed during the portfolio lifecycle, and that the realization is monitored * Provide consistent and effective portfolio dashboards, portfolio reviews, scorecards, and reports * Promote IT framework, governance, and processes * Demonstrates exceptional leadership and motivational skills, clear communication and vision QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications) * Bachelor's degree in a business or science discipline * Seven (7) years of progressive project management experience including planning and executing complex projects with multiple delivery partners/business units * Five (5) years in an established leadership role overseeing large scale IT budgets and initiatives * Demonstrated project portfolio management skills (project intake, resource demand planning, budget management) * Demonstrated experience in project budgeting and monitoring * Facilitation in governance, project reviews, steering, and other project related meetings KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently) * Evidence of professional achievement in maximizing business value and/or IT utilization through the use of IT Governance and Project Management * Demonstrable experience in creating and maintaining large scale project teams and budgets * Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and facilitation skills including presentations to C-Suite executives, senior leadership, peer groups, and associates * Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization * Strong communication and organization skills * Strong project management skills * Strong focus on collaboration, team building * Project Finance and accounting skills * Must be proficient in Microsoft Project and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and possess solid computer skills. * Creating and managing long-term goals. * Writing program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services. * Managing a dotted line (indirect) team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities. * Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved. * Formulating, organizing and monitoring inter-connected projects * Experience managing SAP programs is required ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions) Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems. Routine visits to implementation sites and to VWR sites in Radnor, Belgium and India where development team members are based. A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
