The Maryland
State Retirement Agency (the 'Agency') is the administrator of the
Maryland State Retirement and Pension System (the 'System'). The
System is a multi-employer, public employees' defined benefit retirement system
composed of twelve (12) separate retirement and pension systems with additional
plan components, covering approximately 245,000 active members and more than
160,000 retirees and beneficiaries.

The Agency is seeking a
committed professional to serve in a newly established role within the
Investment Division as the Investment Associate of Corporate Governance and
Compliance.� The Investment Associate
will assist in the Environmental, Social and Governance (the "ESG"), Diversity,
Equity and Inclusion (the "DEI"), corporate governance, and investment compliance
related efforts. The position will report to the Senior Compliance Manager and
work collaboratively with various members of the Investment Division staff.
This
is a Special Appointment position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing
Authority.

Main Purpose of Job

The Investment Associate of Corporate Governance and Compliance is responsible for assisting with the research, reporting and monitoring of corporate governance and investment compliance related functions for the System. These areas include ESG, DEI, proxy voting and engagement, securities litigation, external manager due diligence, external and internal manager investment guideline compliance, regulatory reporting and monitoring, code of ethics, conflicts of interest, personal trading monitoring, material non-public information, public information act requests, and policy and procedure documentation.

POSITION DUTIES

Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:

Assist in ESG and DEI tasks such as working across asset classes
to integrate ESG and DEI into investment due diligence, tracking and reporting

ESG and DEI efforts by external and internal managers and other related ESG and

DEI data, and research and analysis of potential and existing investments;

Assist with managing and reporting of investment divestment
programs;

Assist in managing the proxy voting process and ensuring that
proxies are voted in accordance with the System's custom proxy guidelines;

Maintains knowledge of best practices and current trends in
corporate governance topics;

Assist with engagement activities related to corporate
governance topics;

Assist with managing meeting and minutes of the Corporate

Governance and Securities Litigation Committee;

Assist with the various tasks related to the code of ethics,
conflicts of interest, personal trading, and material non-public information
policies such as attestations, reporting and monitoring;�

Assist with monitoring compliance with various investment
guidelines for external and internal investment managers;

Assist in creating and documenting policies and procedures
related to investment compliance;

Compile and generate responsive documents and information
related to Public Information Act requests;

Assist with manager due diligence over external investment
managers and private investment funds;

Assist with generating reports for regulatory reporting to monitor
compliance with several securities laws, rules and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Graduated from
an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree before
starting the position.
Applicants can
substitute a minimum of three years of relevant experience in investment
compliance, corporate governance or ESG related tasks for the required
education qualification.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate
should have some of the qualifications listed below to achieve success with the
position's responsibilities. It is desirable that this individual has knowledge
and experience with one or more of:

Investment
compliance monitoring, external manager due diligence, personal trading
monitoring, code of ethics, conflicts of interest, or regulatory reporting;

ESG and DEI
integration;

Key ESG issues,
regulatory and standards setting organizations, measurement tools, ESG data
applications and rating systems; �

Knowledge of
corporate governance and stewardship best practices; and

Microsoft Office,

Adobe PDF, and Bloomberg.
