AIG's Structured Finance team manages approximately $9 billion of complex corporate and asset backed investments for AIG's family of insurance companies. We typically underwrite private investment grade fixed rate debt issued by franchisors, leasing companies (rail-car, aircraft, containers, solar, cell towers, and real estate), timeshare developers, rental car companies, and sports leagues. This position can be based in Houston or New York.

Your contirbution at AIG

In this role, you will assist senior portfolio analysts in the following:

  • monitoring a portfolio of existing securities by reviewing trustee reports and periodic financial statements, performing credit reviews, analyzing amendment requests, and ensuring accurate monthly portfolio pricing.
  • evaluating new transaction opportunities by analyzing industry trends, participating in due diligence meetings with issuers, drafting credit approval memorandums.
  • assisting with special projects as assigned.

Organizational Structure

This team currently has five professional members as part of the 50+ member Private Credit Group.

What we are looking for

  • Formal credit training and a solid knowledge of financial statements.

  • 3 - 5 years of credit underwriting experience.

  • A willingness to learn how to underwrite asset backed securities.

  • Four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.

Primarily affects a sub-function. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project. Responsibilities: * Working closely with all members of the Escrow Team, assist with the marketing, delivery and servicing of the Escrow Agent Product to Private Bank clients * Assist with closing new escrow agent business opportunities. This includes participating in sales calls, presentations and conference calls as necessary. * Prepare presentations and create customized, ad-hoc marketing materials as needed. * Domestic travel when / as required. * In conjunction with internal Citibank legal counsel and/or external legal counsel, as appropriate, negotiate escrow agreements for new transactions, adhering closely to Citi legal requirements and client timeframes. Understand and minimize the risks of escrow agent transactions when negotiating agreements. * Involve third party providers such as Continental Stock Transfer or Epiq in contract negotiations as needed. * Involve internal partners such as the CITI PRIVATE BANK trading desk or Citi Investment Management as needed. * Work closely with Private Bankers / Banker Associates to obtain all required Know Your Customer / AML / Patriot Act and related account opening documentation. * Coordinate deal closings with clients – attend and/or participate in closing calls as necessary. Ownership and execution of key Banker/Sales business & practice monitoring and control activities which includes production of various periodic management status reports, committees, etc. as required * Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Qualifications: * 10+ years of experience * Experience working with escrow transactions and settlement funds is preferred. Familiarity with the securities industry - specifically, securities movements, fixed income securities and deposit products * Strategic focus: strong candidates will exhibit an ability to proactively think "out of the box" and to creatively craft solutions to meet client needs. All transactions are different and clients constantly seek a "Citi solution" for their endeavors. * Technical skills: thorough knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook required.
