Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in a field investigative position conducting interviews of witnesses and others, taking written statements and affidavits, collecting and analyzing physical and documentary evidence, and preparing detailed written reports of investigative findings.

Substitutions: an associate's degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for two years of qualifying experience. A bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field may substitute for four years of qualifying experience. Related fields include: law enforcement, police science, criminal justice administration, criminology, criminal investigation, police studies, public justice, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, forensic science, and economic crime management.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new data systems. Ability to analyze and apply data to investigations. Understanding of the services provided to Medicaid recipients through providers within the Home Health Industry.

Regular travel, including to areas not served by public transportation, is required. Must have a valid driver's license or otherwise demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation requirements of the position.

Duties Description The Division of Medicaid Investigations ensures the integrity of the Medicaid program by conducting investigations, recovering over payments and implementing administrative sanctions against providers. Duties of the position will include, but not be limited to:

Investigate allegations of Medicaid fraud or abuse.

Conduct fieldwork, including on-site inspections.

Operate various data systems; analyze information; and draw appropriate conclusions.

Obtain sufficient information and documentation to support investigative findings.

Draft correspondence, reports, and notices for public issuance in connection with administrative actions seeking to recoup Medicaid overpayments and impose sanctions.

Testify at administrative hearings as necessary.

Collaborate with other regulatory oversight agencies and law enforcement and conduct joint investigations as appropriate.

Additional Comments Non-Competitive, permanent and full-time, fingerprinting and background check required. Routine travel is required in order to conduct fieldwork necessary to complete investigations.

Must have a valid driver's license or otherwise demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation requirements of the position. There may be minimal mandatory overtime.

FOJP is looking for an investigative associate to join their expanding Claim department. The Investigative Associate provides essential support on medical malpractice asserted and un-asserted cases by handling discovery requests, obtaining information and materials for litigation purposes and performing administrative duties as needed. Essential Responsibilities: * Processes all defense attorney discovery requests, including, but not limited to: obtaining medical logs, policy and procedure manuals, signature identifications, medical records, radiology studies and pathology specimens. Forwards requested items to appropriate defense counsel per FOJP guidelines. * Maintains communication with internal/external clients and attorneys concerning relevant work. * Enters investigation requests into log book/electronic database and OnBase. Meets with Professional Liability Investigator assigned to the case immediately upon identification of difficult requests. If the IA requires further direction, he/she meets with the Supervisor, IA & WP only if the matter cannot be resolved by the PLI. * Opens unasserted cases in Oasis claim system and processes security request forms on each opened case. Completes and distributes forms as appropriate, maintaining a copy for internal records. * Processes medical records received with routing stamp, obtains FOJP file number, transports records within FOJP as needed, and enters demographic information into Oasis. * Logs Risk Management intake forms, files as appropriate and prints demographic data from Oasis system. * Logs summonses received into log book. Requests and picks up inpatient, clinic, pathology, cytology and radiology records/reports as needed. * Makes copies of medical records, case plan reports, defense analyses and other appropriate correspondence as directed. * Requests and picks up field office supplies; maintains paper supplies in fax and copy machines. Picks up and drops off paperwork between field office and FOJP office. * Maintains current list of hospital resource departments with phone/fax and e-mail addresses. Answers and directs incoming calls as needed. * Handles department filing and shreds closed files as directed. Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned. Required Skills and Experience: * Good Microsoft Office Suite skills. Strong organizational skills. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to multi-task. Attention to detail. * Medical terminology and/or claims knowledge preferred. * Must be a self-motivator able to work autonomously as well as collaborate on a team. * 1-2 years administrative assistance experience; exposure to claims or legal a plus.
