What does a Best Buy Inventory Specialist do?

  • This position is responsible to receive and ship merchandise to/from store and to stock merchandise in the warehouse or on the sales floor.
    80% of your time you will:

Receive and ship store merchandise:

  • Removes merchandise from truck and compare against packing list.

  • Applies security tag to product and moves it to sales floor or warehouse storage.

  • Packages merchandise for shipment and completes bill of lading for transfers

  • Packages merchandise for shipment to return to Distribution Centers.

  • Operates equipment according to company safety standards to assist in moving merchandise.

  • Stocks merchandise on the sales floor.

  • Assists in the receiving of drop shipments

  • Prepares merchandise for home delivery.

  • Accurately documents movement of merchandise.

  • Completes paperwork for store receiving, transfers, home delivery, DEVO, Junk Out.
    10% of your time you will:

Provide and maintain store appearance:

  • Ensures clean parking lot, sidewalks, store entry, aisles, restrooms, warehouse area.

  • Properly disposes of debris, boxes.
    10% of your time you will:

Provides carryout service for customers:

  • Safely loads merchandise in customers vehicle.

  • Verifies receipt against merchandise.

What are the professional requirements of an Inventory Specialist?

  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of holidays, nights and weekends

  • Ability to lift or maneuver 50-100 pounds, with or without accommodations

Two positions available: One at the Academic Advisement Center, at the Fullerton Campus, home to General Education and Undeclared Academic Advising ( Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.) A second position at the Irvine Center, home to a broad array of advising and other services in most every academic major as partner to counterparts on the Fullerton Campus, with a focus on General Education advising (Monday -Thursday, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM and Fridays, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM). Under the direction of the Associate Vice President, South County Operations and Initiatives and the Assistant Vice President for Student Success and/or Director of Academic Advisement or designee, the Retention Specialist (Student Services Professional II) works in support of a strategic retention program to facilitate degree progression and completion. Works as a member of their Student Success Team in the Academic Advisement Center or the Irvine Center to provide a web of support services that complement the student experience at the Irvine Center and on the (main) Fullerton Campus as a generalist, focusing on Student Advising Learning Objectives. In collaboration with retention specialist counterparts in the colleges on the Fullerton Campus, conducts ongoing review of retention data within each specific cohort to identify common trends and errors resulting in failure to progress and provides solution-centered recommendations to decrease the rate of occurrence. Assists their Student Success Team in developing, implementing, and assessing programs designed to increase retention and facilitate progress toward degree and graduation based on students' needs and college/institutional demand. Maintains a database of students supported, challenges experienced, and overall outcomes and presents progress reports as requested. General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management, research, and interview techniques.
