Job Description

Hamilton Company is looking for an Inventory Specialist who falls under the immediate supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor. The Inventory Specialist is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in inventory control, including stock clerks, warehouse personnel, and shipping. This is a rotating position and the individual will rotate between lead position in shipping and/or stockroom.

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Oversees Cycle Counting activities and integrity of inventory

  • Maintains inventory as required by production schedules, and/ or customer orders

  • Schedules and trains employees to ensure efficiency and quality in all areas

  • Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service, suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency

  • Investigate shortages of other items found during work order kitting or shipping functions

  • Distributes workload and manages capacity in shipping and stockroom to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner

  • Perform other tasks to maintain inventory integrity as assigned by the Inventory Control Supervisor

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must have working knowledge of products and shop order flow

  • Must have a firm understanding of MRP II

  • Must be computer literate

  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a multitasking environment

  • Able to work constructively under pressure

  • Able to perform detailed work with numerical data

  • Must have general knowledge of warehouse procedures

  • Position requires exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects

Education and Experience

  • Must have High School diploma or GED

  • Experience using UPS, FedEx and DHL shipping systems

  • Minimum of 3-4 years previous warehouse or inventory experience

  • Forklift and pallet jack experience a plus

  • Technical Certificate and/or LEAP or CTE Program Completion Preferred

The Inventory Control Specialist performs a wide variety of tasks ranging from performing markdowns, setting up point of sale and promotional events to addressing register errors made by associates at the Front End. The Inventory Control person must be able to move through multiple tasks during their shift while providing a high level of customer service and achieving sales goals.
