INVENTORY SPECIALIST- 2nd SHIFT (2:00 PM-12:30 AM)

The Inventory Specialist is an important role in our process and directly affects the supply chain process at our Rocket Development Facility in Texas. Located on a 4,500 acre site in central Texas, the Rocket Development Facility is responsible for testing hardware from development stages through acceptance for flight, and from component level to complete stage testing. This position will help to ensure that the inventory is correct and that our technicians and engineers have what they need in order to achieve our overall mission of sending humans to Mars.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive, stock, and issue a wide variety of parts, materials, and hardware to support site operations via manual or by use of the VLM (Vertical Lift Module)

  • Store parts and materials in bins, drawers, and racks, while identifying part and stored location

  • Perform picking function to make up necessary kits of parts, material and hardware as required, ascertaining that all parts are available and accounted for in kit

  • Maintain strict material handling practices in accordance with good procedures

  • Assist with implementation of automation of parts issue process

  • Monitor shelf-life storage and maintain proper rotation of stock

  • Transact to company computer systems per procedures

  • Perform routine cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy

  • Verify all material received for conformity with accompanying paperwork, checking for damage, correct part numbers, quantity and revisions

  • Perform good housekeeping, safety, and 5S practices in area

  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned

  • Support organization goals/metrics/objectives

  • Input daily activity sheet

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 2+ years of experience in an inventory or supply chain role within an aerospace, government, industrial or manufacturing environment

  • Experience operating a forklift

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • 5+ years of experience in an inventory or supply chain role within an aerospace, government, industrial or manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and functions

  • Ability to make independent judgments with limited information

  • Valid forklift certification (re-testing is required)

  • Efficient communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and customers

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of accuracy

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments heat, cold, rain

  • Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying light to moderately heavy materials or equipment

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted

  • Valid driver's license

  • Must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required

  • The regular hours for this position will be 2:00 PM- 12:30 AM Monday-Friday with rotating Saturday shifts

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars PROPELLANTS DISPATCHER – 2ND SHIFT (2pm-12:30am) The Propellants Dispatcher position is a core support role for Texas Test Operations, ensuring propellant shipments, movements and processes are controlled yet flexible enough to meet test campaign timelines. This job involves actively working with the SpaceX engineers, test specialists, technicians, schedulers, and contracted propellant suppliers to increase efficiency of propellant logistic operations across our ~4,500 acre test site. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Check material certifications/analysis reports from propellant suppliers and ensure that it meets SpaceX specifications * Create work orders and other written/oral reports detailing operational updates * Preform forecasting and order propellants based on forecasted needs * Coordinate with several different internal and external clients for logistical shipment of propellants * Receive delivery and coordination calls and relay significant information to receiving teams and vendors * Make fast and accurate decisions regarding logistical operations as test schedule information becomes available and changes rapidly * Work efficiently and independently without constant oversight * Be able to make critical decisions with confidence when necessary * Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions * Receive and dispatch orders for products or deliveries * Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance * Use radio, phone or computer to send crews, vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations * Monitor the route and status of tanks to coordinate and prioritize their schedule * Provide field units with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements * Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or GED * 3+ years as a dispatcher, scheduler, or planner in a trucking, propellant, oil & gas, military, airline or fuel transport industry PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in supply chain or logistics * 5+ years of experience as a dispatcher, scheduler, or planner in a trucking, propellant, oil & gas, military, airline or fuel transport industry * Experience working with cryogenics and other hazardous materials * Current Hazmat certification * Dispatch experience specifically related to fuel/propellant shipping and coordination * Previous experience in a role with the autonomy to make important decisions based on data * Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) * Experience working with and understanding AutoCAD * Experience reading and understanding blueprints and schematics * Previous experience working closely with multiple client groups and suppliers * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Experience with different kinds of computer operating systems for the purpose of tracking work, scheduling, shipping & receiving, etc. * Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as it relates to the transport of hazardous materials ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain * Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 20lbs unassisted) * Schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility required * Position requires ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed ITAR REQUIREMENTS: * To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
