Job Description:

  • Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping duties; may work out of a central warehouse.

  • Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting.

  • Follows shipping practices and procedures, transportation routing, schedules and requirements.

  • Package products in accordance with shipping and packaging specifications to be shipped or stored and perform inspection in accordance with procedures

  • Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment;

  • Verifies quantity, weight and conformance of materials to stated identifications; logs receipt of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets and other documents; reports materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges, and routes merchandise to destinations.

  • Maintain cleanliness and order within the work area


  • 5+ years' experience in a shipping/receiving environment.

  • 5+ years' experience in material/inventory control, export control and cycle counting.

  • HS or GED minimum requirement.

  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time and be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Solid understanding of computer usage, i.e. Excel, Microsoft Word and label making programs.

  • Use various types of equipment for packing operations including scale and UPS/US Mail equipment.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Experience as a certified forklift operator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Loads and unloads materials in warehouse and performs a variety of other warehouse tasks. Reads work order, shipping order, or follows verbal instructions. Loads and unloads materials into or from vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, wheelbarrow, or another device. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers. Maintains and compiles records as required. May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Manages and coordinates storage and distribution activities of the company to ensure maximum utilization of facilities. Administers operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current. Assures products, parts, or supplies are shipped, distributed, or received in an efficient manner. Evaluates physical condition of warehouse and equipment and prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment. Works with Manager in ensuring coordination of warehouse activities such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing departments.
