The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for receipt, storage and inventory of testing reagents and other laboratory supplies along with support of daily production activities by directing and prioritizing reagent inventory flow. Ensure accuracy of reagent/supply receipt and delivery to laboratory departments. Perform inventory counts to maintain proper levels and to support finance department activities. Work with department heads and supervisory staff on problem resolution ensuring compliance with ARCBS and NTRL directives, policies, procedures, and regulations. Comply with safety policies and procedures in the work area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
Assures quality customer service to all customers.
Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.
Receive, inspect, store/quarantine, distribute, document, and dispose of reagents/supplies in accordance with regulated procedures and manufacturer recommended storage conditions.
Identify reagent/supply orders and receipt discrepancies; initiate discrepancy documentation in accordance with regulated procedures. Report discrepancies to supervisor or appropriate staff.
Release inventory from quarantine with authorization and direction from appropriate laboratory management and supervisory staff.
Maintain adequate inventory levels to support production. Forecast usage and adjust standing orders as needed. Perform weekly/monthly inventory counting. Under supervision, may order/purchase reagent materials.
Distribute reagents/supplies to testing areas. Rotate inventory to ensure first-in/first-out (FIFO) usage before expiration. Return reagents/supplies as directed by supervisor.
Enter and track reagent/supply inventory information using appropriate computer systems, if applicable.
Communicate with laboratory staff, vendors, individuals, and groups to maintain inventory levels. Forward all relevant packing information to appropriate laboratory and/or administrative staff.
Maintain all designated temperature and reagent stability requirements when transporting reagents/supplies between storage sites and testing areas. Complete all corresponding documentation. Maintain neat, orderly, and accurate reagent/supply records.
Provide cross training to other staff in reagent inventory control as required. Participate in required training/retraining. Train on dry ice handling.
Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
Minimum one year of material management or laboratory experience required.
Purchasing background preferred.
Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff.
Must possess basic computer skills, including database knowledge.
Able to understand data flow, track inventory, maintain accurate, complete, and legible records, and use purchasing programs.
