Job Title: Inventory Control Specialist (ICS)

Job Location: Store

Reports to: Store Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt


Inventory Control Specialists execute the inventory maintenance (scanning outs) controls for the store.


  • Responsible for all "Top 200" cycle counts being completed, and changes being researched

  • Review on hand accuracy changes submitted by associates and research if necessary

  • Scan outs, lows, and overs daily

  • Give recommendations for PIP approvals to Store Manager

  • Communicate with the store support purchasing team about in-stock issues

  • Ensure quality customer service with Customer CARE practices

  • Assist with planogram resets to ensure on-hand accuracy

  • Research inventory variances to determine if count issues exist

  • Reduce inventory shrink by identifying potential causes of shrink and retraining associates on proper procedures

  • Use general office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.

  • Operate Telxon gun, forklift, pallet jack, ladder, and other retail equipment.

  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties


  • 1+ years management experience preferred, with knowledge of specific department

  • Strong communications (written, oral and interpersonal skills)

  • Ability to interact with the team in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient

  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner

  • Ability to work independently without supervision

  • Ability to work a 40-hour workweek with varied hours, days, night, and weekends as business dictates

  • Ability to access and use the in-store computer, scanning system, and wireless handheld unit

  • Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process remotely

  • Ability to complete computer-based training

  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently

Position is accountable for organization planning and overall inventory performance (Control and Planning of inventory). This individual will be responsible for the implementation of standardized inventory planning/scheduling processes leading to optimization of inventory carry cost, customer on time delivery and customer experience. In addition, this individual will work cross-functionally leading SIOP process, regularly reviewing metrics and stocking assumptions/levels, proactively identify opportunities to optimize inventory levels based on current and forecasted business conditions, and drive decision-making on slow moving and obsolete inventory. Success in this role is critical in supporting the business needs of service, inventory and cost. Essential Functions: * Define, Lead, and continuously improve Materials Planning, Scheduling and Inventory Strategies and KPIs * Lead North American cross-functional Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process holding the team accountable for timing, accuracy, and performance * Optimize Inventory Levels to achieve World Class Customer On-Time deliveries * Develop and distribute inventory reports, metrics and analysis designed to communicate status, highlight areas of concern or interest, detail actions required, and forecast inventory levels for month, quarter, and year end. Develop monthly, quarterly, annual inventory targets in conjunction with Planning function, and communicate to key stakeholders * Work cross functionally to develop and implement recommendations for changes to MRP processes and signals, inventory processes and finished goods, and determine disposition for developmental inventory (Operations and R&D), and slow moving and obsolete inventory. * Identify key drivers of inventory levels (e.g. service level requirements, poor quality, transit time, manufacturing processes, etc.) and design and lead projects or develop resource requests designed to address root causes. Propose changes in systems, material classification, etc. where needed to improve overall management of and visibility to inventory. * Resolve any arising problems or complaints * Supervise, coach and train materials planning and scheduling workforce * Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets * Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements * Comply with laws, regulations, medical device compliance and ISO requirements * Participate on cross-functional teams with a focus on component savings, product standardization, internal/external inventory, quality and delivery ratings and process improvements. * Oversee with multiple facility scheduling and buyer/planner teams in different NA locations.
