Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Inventory Control Lead will ensure that the warehouse team (comprised of Inventory Control Specialists) maintains accurate inventory counts and maintains appropriate inventory flow between external sources, the warehouse, receiving inspection, and production. The Inventory Control Lead follows the direction of the Operations leadership but is also expected to collaborate with Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, Quality, Sales, and Vendors to meet the business goals. Must sustain an appropriate level of communication with internal parties, suppliers, and couriers to resolve problems with shipments or deliveries.

Primary Responsibilities

a) Lead the warehouse team by: Supporting the business's safety and profitability goals and flowing down expectations to the Inventory Control Specialists.

b) Assigning and directing the work of the Inventory Control Specialists to meet shipment deadlines and goals.

c) Keeping management and the Inventory Control Specialists informed of shipment/receiving progress and real/potential problems.

d) Training employees in all aspects of warehouse operations.

e) Working with other departments in order to maintain high efficiency, output, and reduce potential problems.

f) Ensuring that all required reports are accurate and completed on time.

g) Monitoring company rules and regulations for attendance, personal conduct, safety, and housekeeping, and escalating concerns appropriately.

h) Communicating expectations and monitoring the performance of the Inventory Control Specialists.

  • Perform the same duties as the Inventory Control Specialists

  • Maintain accurate inventory counts by ensuring the Inventory Control Specialists support physical inventories, perform cycle counts, and transacting items in ERP (issued, received, transfers, etc.) as well as within courier sites (is: FedEx, UPS).

  • Maintain an orderly warehouse by ensuring the Inventory Control Specialists move items from/to its appropriate inventory location, following housekeeping rules and promoting 5S systems.

  • Ship/Receive/Return items by ensuring the Inventory Control Specialists perform the needed ERP transactions, packaging/unpacking items, create labels, and generate the needed documentation as required by our internal policies, export control, customer requirements, among others.

  • Prepare and delivery production kits by ensuring the Inventory Control Specialists follow pick lists and production plans to deliver it to production areas.

  • Performs courier duties to the post office and other destinations as required and maintains a courier log of all destinations.

  • Actively participates in Safety/Lean/6sigma/Quality improvement activities.

  • Adheres to company rules and regulations for attendance, personal conduct, safety, housekeeping, etc.

  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.

  • Understand and live by Esterline's ethics and business conduct policies

  • Performs other duties as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience in a low-volume high mix shipping and receiving environment.

  • Previous experience with bar code systems, government DD-250 forms, air bills, export documents, packaging slips and packaging methods.

  • Intermediate level knowledge of MS Office Suite; Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Experience in Cycle Counting and ERP transactions

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Must be flexible to work OT and weekends as needed.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to assign and monitor work done by others

  • Understanding of KPIs such as OTD.

  • Understanding of demand and supply concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two year college degree or an equivalent work experience

  • Have worked with small electrical components.
