Stockkeeper III - Band C

Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based ScienceS and Education (CLASSE)

The Stockkeeper III position is a valuable team member who interacts with research scientists, technical support staff, post-docs, graduate students, undergraduate students, and staff, advising on and supplying necessary parts and equipment. The stockroom is comprised of 4,000+ items, and the stockkeeper is relied upon for generalized knowledge, item location, sign out, replenishment, and overall inventory-keeping. The successful stockkeeper is adept at utilizing a variety of software, and possesses the skills to create non-proprietary software that better meets the needs of the laboratory stock room, in collaboration with the IT team. The stockkeeper will manage the stockroom and warehouse with little supervision or oversight. This role also serves as back-up shipper and primary receiver for Wilson Laboratory.

The stockkeeper is supervised by a Technical Services Supervisor II, who also supervises a team of equipment technicians commonly referred to as riggers. Approximately 25% of the stockkeeper's time will be devoted to contributions to the rigging team. This cross-training will provide an in-depth knowledge of the work groups in the laboratory, the projects on the horizon and underway, and the overall needs of the projects as it relates to parts and stock inventory.

A strong candidate for this position will demonstrate excellent collaboration and organizational skills, responsibility-taking with a focus on deadlines and communication, and embodies the tenacity to see projects through to completion. Building relationships across the lab and exceeding expectations goes a long way in the day-to-day operations. We seek an individual who is resourceful, demonstrates a keen attention to detail, and embodies an affable and helpful demeanor, with an emphasis on providing high quality service to the research programs.
