SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Inventory Clerk is responsible for counting inventory, recording the new count, researching the origin of any count discrepancies pertaining to the accurate reporting of material inventory, status and location along with other duties as assigned.

REPORTING TO : Warehouse and Logistics Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cycle count all locations and items as assigned on a daily basis; research, correct and record results in order to maintain inventory accuracy.

  • Submit inventory adjustment requests to reconcile count discrepancies, incorrect material transfers, returns to stock etc. as necessary.

  • Assure cycle counts are executed to plan and that associated investigation and recommendation for reconciliation takes place in a timely manner.

  • Analyze cycle count results to determine root cause - resolve errors by research and auditing of transactions.

  • Review results with Warehouse and Logistics Manager on a routine basis and present suggestions for process and/or systems changes to minimize and eliminate inventory variance.

  • Perform data entry and assists in generating excel reports and graphs related to inventory levels.

  • Understand basic processes and procedures within the warehouse and production areas to be able to identify errors or opportunities.

  • Interact with warehouse and operations personnel to identify problems.

  • Complete periodic process audits as defined by cycle counting program.

  • Operate material handling equipment, i.e. forklift, reach fork, electric or hand mule, hoist and overhead crane.

  • Weigh material and verify counts by using appropriate scales.

  • Maintain paperwork as prescribed by departmental procedures.

  • Use computer as needed to perform job functions.

  • Participate in continuous improvement process by attending meetings and presenting problems and possible solutions to the appropriate personnel.

  • Manage and complete special projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  • Basic familiarity with computers.

  • Excellent math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

  • Knowledge of the operation of material handling equipment.

  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and escalate deemed appropriate.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Manufacturing, general warehouse, clerical and/or inventory control experience preferred.

  • JDE/SAP/MRP experience a plus, but not a requirement.

Essential Functions:

Physical Demands:

  • At least 70% of the time is divided between standing and walking.

  • Approximately 30% of the time is spent bending and crouching.

  • Between 30% and 70% of the time is spent reaching with hands and arms.

  • Lifting requirements range from less than 10 lbs. up to 4,000 lbs. Manual lifting could reach the company maximum of 65 lbs. Material handling equipment is available for heavy lifting.

  • A moderate amount of climbing is required.

Work Environment:

  • Majority of work performed on shop floor; including local and off-site warehouses.

  • Exposure to moving, mechanical parts approximately 30% of the time.

  • Noise exposure is moderate.

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Distance and peripheral vision are required for safety due to traffic in the plant.

  • Requires constant alertness to machine and mobile equipment operation.

  • Close vision is required to perform job functions.

  • Depth perception is required for operating reach trucks.

COMPENSATION:

Hourly rate starting at $19.50, DOE
