The Department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity available to join the Intraoperative Neuromonitoring team. In this role, you will use state of the art equipment to protect patients by continuously monitoring the central and peripheral nervous system during surgery. Joining a highly qualified and diverse group, you will work closely with multiple disciplines to help improve patient outcomes through remarkable advances in IOM care.

Responsibilities*

  • Consistently perform high quality neurophysiological monitoring in the operating room to assess the functional integrity of the central and/or peripheral nervous system during neurosurgical, orthopaedic, and vascular procedures.

  • Utilize multi-modality monitoring including: somatosensory evoked potentials, electromyography, transcranial motor evoked potentials, electroencephalography, brainstem auditory evoked potentials, cranial nerve monitoring, electrocorticography, and nerve conduction studies to improve the quality of patient care by preventing iatrogenic injury.

  • Patient care assignment may include: pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Required Qualifications*

  • ONE of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) year of Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (IONM) experience OR

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in IONM OR

  • Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) required

  • Will be required to obtain CNIM within 60 days of eligibility

Work Schedule

Available shifts vary. Please discuss your shift preference and availability at your interview!

2 days of call per months and rotating weekends. Premium pay provided when on call

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
