Hourly Rate: $18.50 - $19.25/hour (depending on expereience)

Pay Grade: 31

Schedule: 27.5 hours/week; Monday - Friday (hours tbd); 9 month position;Arizona State Retirement System eligible

Summary of Function

The Interventionist position provides assistance both to students and teachers in the learning environment. This includes supporting students in intervention and instruction within the classroom and small pullout groups. Provides support to families with school connections, attendance, and school community events.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Prior experience working with children required.

  • Applicants must be familiar with Native communities in the greater Flagstaff area.

  • Understanding of Trauma and Restorative Practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support all students in general education or specialized program setting.

  • Assist in providing services available for students to their families.

  • Assist in the educational and social emotional learning of students under the direction and guidance of the administration, counselor, and classroom teachers.

  • Provide support for individual student(s) inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.

  • Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.

  • Oversee independent/guided practices and follow guidlines and prescribed activities to ascertain the application of concepts and skills as determined by the teacher.

  • Assist in the preparation of student work for All Students.

  • Assist with activities and initiatives and support the administration assistant including attendance and collaboration with ideas.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working conditions

  • Creating a postive learning environment for all. Use restorative practices when working with staff and students.

  • Maintain full sight and sound supervision of students at all times to ensure their safety, and work both indoors and outdoors.

Physical requirements

Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion and movement is required to perform the aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting and moving for extended periods of time, requiring moving from one location to another, reaching, bending, holding, and grasping objects. Verbal communication ability required.

Equipment, Aids, Tools and Materials

Uses office/classroom equipment which includes, but is not limited to: computers and instructional materials. FUSD recognizes that ever-changing development of technology but expects all staff to keep abreast of changing technology opportunities and use tools and devices provided to them.
