Summary:
The Radiology Nurse demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times
consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under limited direction, provides quality nursing care to patients in Imaging and Diagnostic Services which may include:
Special Procedures, Diagnostic Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT, Vascular Lab, BDC and MRI. This individual assesses, identifies needs, plans, implements appropriate interventions, and documents and evaluates outcome according to established standards of care.

Has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.
Provides direct patient care, assesses and monitors patient condition and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.; administers medications, as needed, and monitors same after injection; serves as "first responder" to patient care needs or emergency situations
Assists physicians in all interventional procedures requiring nursing care; maintains flexibility to ensure department workload consistency.
Analyzes patient stability and procedure tolerance and recommends daily work schedule changes to expedite examinations
Demonstrates skills in using special equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps, pacemakers, oxygen equipment and respirators
Documents patient status and care rendered; acts as liaison between Radiology and Nursing Units
Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety, MR safety, hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment. Reports operational, functional and system problems to the manager.
Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
Preserves patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients' information. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
Anticipates customer needs and provides services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff. Coordinates requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems.
Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect. Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization. Attends mandatory internal and external meetings and in-services as required.
Promotes positive customer and employee relations by projecting a favorable corporate image through professional, courteous and effective interactions with customers, staff and physicians
Maintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties (RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned.
Other information:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing (ADN, diploma, BSN) with a current Michigan License
ACLS certified
Preferred:
Five years of clinical experience with two years in critical care
Two years experience as a RN in a similar role
Required:
Two years of current clinical experience with one year in critical care
Meets or exceeds department requirements in all levels of current performance appraisal
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Prior knowledge of radiology procedures and radiation safety
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and prioritize patient needs independently, efficiently and effectively
Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and a proven ability to work effectively with a diverse audience
Computer literate
Demonstrated ability to remain calm during high volume, stress and crisis situations. Time management and organizational skills. Self directed.
Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
