Jefferson Radiology, established in 1963, is a 60+-physician sub-specialty group practice based in East Hartford, CT. Jefferson Radiology joined MEDNAX in 2017 and is the largest radiology practice in Connecticut.

Jefferson Radiology has 9 private outpatient offices with multiple modalities offered in each. We are an all-digital practice, with enterprise PACS capabilities, interpreting close to one million exams a year.

The IR Coordinator is responsible for timely and effective processing of patients for IR or Vein procedures in an outpatient office setting and IR procedures for the hospital settings. This position has direct patient contact and is accountable for representing the company in a pleasant, professional manner at all times.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedules patients for appointments (pre-procedure or follow-up) with Radiologists. Schedules exams or interventional procedures in a professional, friendly, and timely manner.

    Obtains demographic, patient medications and insurance information. Verifies pre-authorizations and obtains outside patient records as needed.

  • Properly enters information into Radiology Information System (RIS), as well as the Outlook calendar, to reflect correct patient information, pertinent clinical information and referring physicians. Properly scans patient information into system.

    Pulls documentation from Jefferson Radiology consult visits on hospital patients to ensure all clinical histories are available for the Interventional Radiologist. Sends proper appointment requests to physicians.

  • Collaborates with hospital scheduling and support services as well as Jefferson Radiology community hospital Physician Workflow Coordinators to ensure that IR cases needed at the hospital affiliate locations are correctly triaged.

  • Schedules patients for appointments (pre-procedure or follow-up) with radiologists. Schedules exams or interventional procedures in a professional, friendly, and timely manner.

    Obtains demographic, patient medications and insurance information. Verifies pre-authorizations and obtains outside patient records as needed.

  • Provides patients with correct and up-to-date information on exam preparations, time provisions and insurance requirements. Seeks out additional information for patients requesting more assistance.

  • Acts as a liaison with referring physicians for scheduling complex procedural exams. Provides support and assistance to other department staff as needed. Collaborates with Supervisor, Customer Care Center and Radiologists in coordinating outpatient procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred. 2-3 years' experience in interventional radiology, required. Computer experience; proficiency in IDX and MS Outlook preferred.

Must possess solid knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding and medical insurance and authorizations. Must demonstrate proficiency with Sunrise and EDDS hospital systems. Must possess excellent diction and communication skills, excellent telephone manner, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Must convey a pleasant, professional demeanor.

Physical Requirements of the job: Sitting will be required 80% of the time. Walking, bending and crouching for 20% of the time.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Conduct investigations into student truancy. * Make telephone calls to absent and truant students and/or guardians. * Conduct home visits of students to encourage school attendance. * Prepare and assist in attendance hearings. * Create and maintain a data based system for tracking and documentation purposes of messages, home visits, and other intervention attempts. * Maintain list(s) of chronically truant students. * Maintain positive communication and interactions with parents, guardians, students, and other family members. * Assist with development of attendance improvement plans. * Assume such other functions as may be determined. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Seven hours per day, ten-month year. Salary is hourly.
