We are looking for an intern to support the P&C Analytics Solutions team for summer 2019, from June 2019 to September 2019. You will support the team with analytics capabilities and machine learning techniques to derive tangible business insights from structured and unstructured data sources.

The main responsibilities of the internship will be:

  • Passionate about prototyping new creative analytics solutions from concept to working software

  • Perform quantitative analyses on insurance market data to monitor developments, identify trends and gain superior insights

  • Preparation, aggregation and manipulation of data from a variety of internal and external sources, requiring a high degree of "data-savviness" and a flair for financial industry.

  • Handle potentially incomplete data sets, complementing by out-sourcing internal/external information

  • Produce interactive visuals with Tableau or use analytical tools to generate insight, recognize patterns and communicate your findings

  • Other tasks in the many quantitative areas where our team operates, depending on applicant's background and interests

The P&C Analytics Solutions team channels and develops solutions and services for our clients across the (re)-insurance value chain. It is within the mandate of the team to be at the forefront of analytics understanding by driving the development of novel solutions through the combination of risk knowledge and data science capabilities. About you

  • You are in your Bachelor or Master studies, showing strong results in a quantitative discipline (computer science, natural sciences, applied mathematics / statistics, engineering, econometrics)

  • Desire to build your career

  • You show love for handling data and excited to discover new possibilities

  • You have some experience with programming languages, such as python, R, etc

  • You provide good knowledge of Excel

  • Have you already been working with Linux servers

  • You are familiar with relational databases and SQL

  • You demonstrate strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in analytics

  • Experience with Tableau or similar visual tools as well as with software development is a plus

The Data Analytics Intern will have expertise in the following key areas: * Data analysis * Text Analysis * Visual Analytics Responsibilities and opportunities include the following: * Participate in projects planning to leverage data science and cognitive technology * Support the process of identifying key problems * Research and identify ideas and data possibly used to solve such problems * Participate in the process to build prototypes We are looking for data scientist students who have a passion for technology and desire to establish skills for realizing new analytical insights, to participate in an internship. You will work with colleagues from various countries who have studied at universities around the world and have world-class experience which you will be excited to learn from. You will be assigned to specific projects where you will understand new problems, research solutions and data sources and develop prototypes. The ideal candidate has an educational background in business analytics, computer science/engineering, computational linguistics or information science and has had exposure to at least one (and ideally a combination) of the following domains: data & text mining and information visualization.
