Summary
Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Internship Specialist is responsible for building relationships and strengthening existing partnerships for internship opportunities for students in Gwynedd Mercy University's Integrated Studies program. The position will work closely with the leadership of the Integrated Studies Program as well as with the entire campus community. This program supports students with an intellectual disability who are pursuing a non-degree certificate. Internship opportunities will support students in pursuing competitive, community-based employment in an area of interest, building increased independence using person-centered planning and based on social-role valorization theory and the culturally valued analogue.
The Integrated Studies program is supported by U.S. Department of Education TPSID grant. This is a part- time, 25 hour/week, 10-month position. Some evenings and weekends may be required, some off-campus travel may be required, and the schedule may be flexible.
Responsibilities
Support Integrated Studies students in attaining off-campus internships related to their individualized skills and vocational interest.
Complete employer site visits to ensure that Integrated Studies students are set up for success.
Identify and develop relationships with prospective employers for student internships and jobs, and other events.
Provide one-on-one, and group (in-person and virtual) career advising services to Integrated Studies students in their internship search, including resume writing, interviewing and job and internship searching.
Conduct presentations and workshops (in-person and virtually) on career-related topics to classes and other groups.
Facilitate universally designed and accessible career programs and events for all students including Integrated Studies.
Market employer opportunities to students and other groups on campus and faculty. Create and implement marketing strategies to increase employer and student participation.
Assist in accessibility and universal design for Career Development tools including: Handshake, Big Interview, and Career Development website.
Other
Serve on appropriate committees and task forces as assigned.
Participate in recruitment events and first-year experience events.
Other position-related duties and projects as assigned.

Master's Degree preferred in related field to Career Development (Education, Special Education, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling.)
Experience with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred, supportive/community-based employment experience, experience with higher education.
Excellent technology skills and eagerness to learn.
Able to develop and enhance working relationships with internal and external constituents including students, employers, faculty, and staff.
Strong customer service, time management, and organizational skills.
Have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and must be student focused, collaborative, possess a positive attitude, and support the Mission of the University.
Language Skills
The individual must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to facilitate interaction with the University's administration, faculty, staff, students and visitors.
