This position is expected to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Spring/Winter term (i.e through April 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Your application for the Vehicle Hardware Engineering - Software Engineering & Machine Learning Internship will be considered across all opportunities for the teams listed below:

  • The Low Voltage Electronics Automation & Test team designs, builds, and manufactures testers that are essential to the production of all of Tesla's vehicle electronics and silicon development. This team develops automation using mechanical, electrical, software, and controls of reliable and cost-efficient capital equipment for suppliers and Tesla factories around the world.

  • The Autopilot Core Silicon and Platform Software team enables Tesla's custom AI system on Chip platform that powers autonomy in vehicle and robots

  • The DOJO Systems engineering team to design, test, and deploy custom AI compute hardware. Help develop management software that scales, from custom embedded firmware to high-level webservice APIs

  • The DOJO Machine Learning team is responsible for enabling Tesla's neural networks to train efficiently on our upcoming in-house custom-silicon supercomputer systems. Join a small team of experienced developers in optimizing and scaling the deployment of our Pytorch-derived neural networks on Tesla's custom massively parallel Dojo accelerators

  • The Sensor Machine Learning team works on developing perception algorithms for Tesla sensors. The work involves algorithm development, data analysis, and embedded code development

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong C/C++ programming skills

  • Experience working with and writing softwarefor embedded Linux systems; experience with software/kernel updates a plus

  • Experience in Python/Perl/Bash Scripting is a plus

  • Experience working and debugging complex, distributed software systems

  • Comfortable analyzing data to improve design and performance of a system

  • Understanding of hardware and software development processes

  • Experience with Ethernet or CAN communication protocols is preferred
