Beckman Coulter's internship program offers an opportunity for engineering students to gain work experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment. During this internship experience you will be exposed to various facets of business, and technologies which will allow you to build the skills essential to growing your career.

We are recruiting Mechanical, Electrical and Biomedical Engineers for a summer internship opportunity.

The engineering intern will be exposed to a wide variety of opportunities during the product development process. They will typically be assigned the duties of an entry level engineer that can include but are not limited to basic design, performing technical investigations, generating test protocols, assembling and testing prototypes / breadboards at both the component or system level testing, performing data analysis, conducting safety, component or system design FMEAs, produce engineering documentation per quality system guidelines, and generating engineering change notices. Interns will support experienced engineers on one or more project teams who will serve as mentor or have their own individual assignments on projects. They will learn about the development process and experience the day-to-day workings of engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.

  • Applies research and principles of engineering to the planning, design, development, documentation, and testing.

  • Debugging of a variety of instruments, equipment, systems and/or software.

  • Designs electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting and wiring.

  • Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs and applying knowledge of electricity and materials.

  • Work independently and effectively as part of a team, exhibiting effective interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrate sound technical ability and decision making to achieve the desired results.

  • Establish and cultivate relationships both internally and externally through strong communication methods (written and verbal).

  • Participate in Daily Management activities and quickly adapt to changing priorities

Job Requirements


  • Currently enrolled in a BS Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineer degree, with a minimum 2 years completed.

  • Solid Works, Pro Engineer, Math CAD (or similar), JMP experience desired.

  • Computer skills, e.g., word, excel, access, Microsoft project, electronic documentation systems.

  • Ability to interface well with people of varied backgrounds.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Fast learner, and able to quickly become adept at using the Danaher Business System tool set.
