The Role

The Process Engineering team at Catalent is responsible for developing, testing and implementing new production processes. This department does this by supporting the preventive maintenance, repairs, installation and calibrations of all equipment. The Process Engineering team also determines which equipment is needed for production and arranges for its purchase and installation.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing capital projects that support the GMP facilities to meet FDA requirements and identified growth strategies

  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities that will enhance our processes

  • Developing and implementing continuous improvement processes to save time and remain within compliance

  • Qualifying new equipment to get them into production

  • Completing risk assessments and additional testing on equipment

The Candidate

In order to be eligible for an internship at Catalent, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Must be an undergraduate/graduate student in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field of study

  • Eligible to legally work in the United States

  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) for a 10-12-week period over the summer

Start here The Manager, Pharmaceutical Process Engineering is responsible for providing commercial product technical support for oral solid dose (OSD) process manufacturing (tablets/capsules) including process improvements, tech transfer, process investigations, and process troubleshooting. Serves as the leader of department staff, Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OSD processing operations and provides technical leadership for commercial product processes. The Role * Responsible to lead a team providing technical support for new and existing commercial OSD products/processes. * Responsible for providing technical leadership and support for process manufacturing areas, including investigation and correction of product/process-related problems and deviations, process troubleshooting and improvements. * Oversees and enhances quality and effectiveness of manufacturing systems related to existing commercial products. Supports the design, execution and evaluation of experimental plans to ascertain the required process capabilities, specifications and robustness. * Collaborates cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS and Quality to optimize productivity, safety, product quality and compliance, and supply reliability. * Leads technology transfer and implementation of new technologies, equipment, and processes from R&D and other sites, into the Kansas City facility or out to other Catalent sites, as well as between clinical and commercial manufacturing. * Partner with commercial clients as required on technical issues affecting their drug product(s). Act as product technical steward on client interactions. The Candidate Education or Equivalent: * Bachelor of Science degree required; preferably in engineering, chemistry, or pharmaceutical science discipline. * A minimum of 10 years of experience in OSD pharmaceutical operations, preferably in pharmaceutical process engineering or product development. Minimum of 2 years supervisory/management experience is required. * Expertise in pharmaceutical OSD unit operations, technical transfers, and drug product formulation and processes. * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential as this is a client-facing role. * Must have demonstrated ability to lead by influence and drive results through direct reports and others not under direct supervision. * Must have demonstrated ability to organize and implement projects that improve product robustness, quality and operational effectiveness of product manufacturing.
