VIEW JOBS 10/8/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-06T00:00 Hotwire Launched in 2000, Hotwire is one of the earliest innovators in the online travel arena and part of the Expedia Group family of brands. Our roots are in California, and we also have offices in Seattle along with an important and fast-growing product & technology presence in Gurgaon, India. Hotwire has the energy and pace of a startup, plus the stability and backing of the incredible Expedia family of companies. Hotwire's culture centers around delivering value to customers and supply partners by being passionate about building great products with the newest technologies available. We pride ourselves on our organizational transparency, a bias for action and a customer-centric approach to everything we do. Hotwire differentiates itself as a brand within the travel marketplace by offering a unique core value proposition for customers and suppliers with our opaque pricing model. This concept revolves around offering great bargains on hotel room nights without sharing the specific name or location of the hotel until the booking is complete. By giving this flexibility to our suppliers, we can offer great value to our customers. Hotwire also offers a full retail suite of other travel products that can fulfill virtually any customer travel need. Are you stuck in the machinery of massive organizations working on a small piece of the puzzle but never understanding how your work touches PEOPLE? We're looking for people who want to make an impact: coders who innovate, learn and thrive within light-speed development teams. Hotwire's looking for bright folks with great ideas and even greater energy. We live in the umbrella of a top 100 company but we're AGILE and move quickly, constantly learning. We offer: * A compelling technology stack –Swift, Objective-C, RxSwift, robust continuous delivery pipelines using Chef/Jenkins among others * Almost uninhibited access to customers – move from ideation to construction to production rapidly; gauge customer reaction and then adapt. Then do it again. Feed the feedback loop * AUTONOMY – you'll live and play in a tight-knit team environment where you'll be measured by the enjoyment you bring to others – your co-workers and customers – and not by bug count or algorithmic purity. You'll see a problem and will work unfettered to solve it. Here at Hotwire, you control your destiny. It'd Be Great if you had: * A genuine interest in shipping quality applications and belief in engineering excellence * An agile mentality whether practiced (i.e., SCRUM, Kanban) or innate (i.e., you have no patience to sacrifice progress for red tape) * Ability to make trade-off choices and work in close collaboration with developers to maintain an aggressive release cadence * The ability to communicate effectively to executive audiences; effective communication can manifest as presentations, rapid prototypes or the plain ol' written word * The ability to reverse engineer existing systems and extend the capabilities of existing solutions * 3+ years in delivering native applications for iOS with a strong understanding of a consumer app life-cycle with XCUITest * 2+ years of experience working with devops tools like Chef, Ansible, Jenkins and practices like continuous integration and delivery pipelines * Good knowledge on Open Source software * BS and/or MS in Computer Science or a related field But You Don't Have All of These Skills? We believe talent trumps skills so don't take the above checklist as gospel. The hunger to grow and the passion to learn are greater indicators of success. Your primary responsibilities would be: * Be a thought leader in mobile development and shape the future of our mobile app development strategy * Lead teams to build resilient and secure applications with the right architecture/design and production level quality * Partner with your peers and engineers to be a technical coach and mentor with attention to architecture and design * Partner with product and marketing functions to provide them with engineering guidance and also further their needs from the app * Being involved from product inception, proactively look for potential quality issues, contribute to Technical Reviews and Root Cause Analysis sessions * Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others * Resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur with help from peers or managers. Follow through on details and drive issues to closure with help from peers or managers Why Join Us: Expedia Group recognizes our success is dependent on the success of our people.
